Gerrard's Standing in the game

Entirely predictable accolades from a Man U 'fan', intended to more raise emotions than generate reasonable debate.

What are you on about? If you don't agree with my list then fair enough, but your comment is pretty ludicrous.

Liverpool ST holder in my office is delighted that Gerrard is leaving. His exact words: "Good, he's cráp. Rodgers bottled it keeping him on this season.."

Personally thought it a bit harsh.

You need to seek professional help to battle your persecution complex.

The OP's stance on Gerrard seems logical to anyone without a proverbial rod up their behinds.

Wumming or not, IMO, Gerrard is a PL legend. Maligned by many - and by God, he has his limitations- but at his peak was a bonafide world class player.

Your mate is an idiot and if he met Gerrard would be creaming himself.

Anyway I'd have him top because I can. As for the rest of the list I don't really agree with Robson being in there. You could give Barry a shout over him tbh just for the shere amount of games he's played whilst also being a massive player for Villa but also winning stuff with City. Could Toure and Silva be in there now? Silva is arguably City's greatest ever player.

Not sure what Fabregas has done to get in the list or Alonso for that matter.

Either way wish Stevie all the best.

Yaya Toure has to be there comfortably top 10

Robbing, I can't agree with Barry ever being mentioned on a par with Robson...

I did consider putting Toure in there, but Essien edged it for me.

As for Silva, he definitely warrants a place on some list, but I didn't want to get into the minefield of having to include the likes of Hazard and other "number 10s" so stuck with more traditional CM - easier to compare a Gerrard to a Keane.

Do you think Gerrard will join Lampard at New York and they'll finally prove that they can indeed play together?

No persecution complex at all, what a strange comment to make... just don't need fans from other teams purporting to be sharing in this difficult time with judgemental overtones. For you time would be best spent doing the analysis of your most recent game, no.?

How can Igor Biscan be left out? Disgraceful.

^If we only ever discussed the last game then Gerrard would end his career on a par with David Batty.

With great difficulty, believe me. Toiled over that one for... a sufficient and justifiable amount of time..

He won't go to prove he can play with Lampard though he'll go for £££££££'s and/or a challenge. I think he will go to America although somewhere like Celtic or an Italian club wouldn't surprise me.

Agree on Silva, you have chosen CM's in all, so it makes sense to me. Opinions are like bottoms - everyone has one!

That was too easy. Veneer slipped and within minutes.

I rest my case.

Dunno about you Robbing, but a comfortable retirement in New York with all my millions has far more appeal to me than Glasgow - no offence Scotland.

No, you proved nothing.

I simply used that as an example to show what a clown you're being.

No wonder you're a "first time poster, long time reader."

Gerrard and Scholes would be top for me. Also I would have Keane higher than Viera.

I know what you mean but I also reckon that someone like Gerrard may find it hard looking to Bradley Wright Phillips as a star player. The quality is still fairly poor I reckon. If I were him I'd go to Italy - not like he's going to meet LFC in the CL!!

Really? Or is this another Biscan comment?

Ince was quality, but I don't see who he would displace in my list. He'd be floating around 10th if I were to place him based on my memories of him, but I think i'd include Yaya over him.

Good point about BWP, robbing (and the quality in general).

I guess it depends on his mentality doesn't it. His desire for a challenge or a paycheck. Could easily see him waltzing into either Milan team to be fair.

On a side note, I think Henderson will make a quality captain. I think it'll give him the boost he needs to impose himself on games with more regularity. You look much better when he's more influential on the game. I was a massive Hendophobe when you first signed him, but the ladt 18 months have proven me wrong. I think he's quality - with Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana and Sturridge ahead of him he could be devastating.

No idea why Rodgers put him at RB to shoehorn in Gerrard after his performance against Swansea.

Ince is in with a shout for sure.

But... he... went to Liverpool....

I tried to keep my list unbiased...

BUT HE WENT TO LIVERPOOL!

What would your top 5/10 be Robbing? Would Ince be in there?

posted on 2/1/15

He has been a fantastic servant for us but purely on footballing ability he is not as good as Alonso, Molby, Whelan, Gary Mc to name a few.

He will / desire to win and do well for our club is second to none.

He has squeezed every ounce of ability he has and performed 99% of the time for us but his recipe is work rate, agression, passion, etc.

Gerrard was a great player for Liverpool. Top 10 midfielders in the prem? No chance. He was not even good enough to play in midfield for Liverpool ahead of Alonso and Mascherano
