... on the pitch. Seemed much more effective playing further up the field. Think Brendan will utilise him there more often? I'm sure when Sturridge is back and Sterling is there, he'll be more effective there than further back.

It wouldn't at all surprise me if BR didn't try his hardest to keep Gerrard at the club.
Gerrard is a club legend. He has more stature at the club than Rodgers and until he leaves Rodgers is in his shadow.
This season we've moved Gerrard around a bit which to me suggests that Rodgers is having to find a spot for him in the team. We can rest him but its not possible to drop him indefinitely. Whenever we do drop/rest him, the media always talks about Gerrard. If we have a bad performance without him it because Gerrard isn't there. Rodgers needs to be in a position where he gets to choose who in in the team, based on formation, tactics, style of play, not because a player is a club legend and is undroppable.
He is still one of our better players individually but I believe we are a better team without him. And I think our best XI when Sturridge is back doesn't include him.
He played ok yesterday. He was better in the second half, but in the first, apart from the goal, he didn't do much. I thought Henderson, Markovic and Coutinho were better than him but he'll get the plaudits because he scored two goals.

Id love SG to stay but he had admitted himself that the deciding factor was that he did not want to go from being one of the first names on the teamsheets to only starting 1-2 games out of 3. The issue here is that he will be 35 in may and if he is not happy with this then there is no other option. If SG was starting every week and not performing to his best then it would be similar to Fergie starting Giggs every week and the utd fans (quite rightly) complaining about it.
He does not want to retire yet so will not be offered a coaching role, but BR has said this will happen when he does consider finishing playing...
im not sure what else the club could have done?

I hope hendo is practicing his free kicks. We going to need the void left by suarez and gerrard in that department.

With Gerrard always being picked by Rodgers then he must be after a replacement for him in the Summer, who is the big question?

I think Lallana is a better bet at free kicks then Hendo. Not seen much from Hendo to suggest he will be deadly with the dead ball. Granted he's not had the opportunities.

I dunno - it seems to me that Rodgers is getting rid cos Stevie G has more power / control / respect than he does in the dressing room.
Something doesn't seem quite right with this situation. Feel sorry for Gerrard really.

He is going to America for a load of money, fair play, deserves the big pay out, will be a star over there.
We can't play or pay him enough to stay.
Even last night when the going got tough he vanished, only really appeared when we got on top again. Starting to struggle when the side does, which is completly opposite to what usually happened where he would drag players back into a game. (yes I know he scored the free kick)

If you're going to WUM, you've got to be better than this. All you've done is repeat what others have said when they've been trying to wum. Basically you're late to the party. Poor effort.

Sure thing Terminator1, the Media, that's who I was referring to..
But I feel the time is right for him to step away from the first team.
Cos Gerrard is 'Bigger than Life' there, this could've easily have got real messy.
This is clean. Straight forward and LFC can really focus for the future now.
