Yeah agree - I know he's ageing but it's weird that Liverpool are getting rid. Think they'll regret that tbh.
The theory is that when Gerrard is not on the pitch then others will step up which has happened in games this season. Whether it will happen long term is still a concern.
I honestly think Gerrard leaving will be short term pain with long term gain in as far as how we play and results on the pitch are concerned. I hope I am wrong and we land on our feet and kick on.

FFS. He's leaving of his own accord. He was offered a contract. How many times do you need to be told this?

i think liverpool will regret grately the decision to throw Gerrard out like a piece of garbage. after all he has done for them over the years
dusgraceful

As terminator above said we offered him a contract. There's no way he could be guaranteed a 1st 11 spot. So, he decided to leave.
We're going to miss him - no doubt but we'll start playing more collectively as a team after he goes.
So before Gerrard arrived, was LFC a good team? Did they win stuff? Did they have above average players at their club?
Why yes.
Sure, Gerrard has been the talisman at Anfield, and not many over his 17 years have been better than him.
Will LFC survive?
Well of course they will. Someone will step up to the plate. They always do.
LFC will be fine without him...
But obviously I don't want them to win anything, but all this doom mongering is a bit over the top in my opinion..
In fairness Stringer, not many Liverpool fans are doom mongering. It's mainly oppo fans that are declaring the end of the world is indeed nigh.....

And you're just an extremely poor wum
Alan Shearer last night was practically in tears that Gerrard is leaving. When you read tweets and comments from Carra it does seem to suggest there is more than what meets the eye.

Sunday supplement muppets, and Carra writing for the Mail of all papers is not much better. It’s the same across the board with football journalism, if it aint there – make it up.
I find the idea that Gerrard, the on pitch leader of LFC for over a decade and recent England captain for two major tournaments is now a shrinking violet who “always needed and arm around him” and constant reassurance – beyond ridiculous.
He does not want to be on the bench, so is moving for a new challenge in a sunny climate for lots of money, the end.

Watching the Sunday Supplement on Sunday the Journos tended to be of the same opinion as Carragher, believing that even Gerrard needs an arm around him to show he is wanted, they dont believe, like many others do, that we have done enough to keep him happy,ok so he wouldnt be playing every game etc but to sit down and tell him he was still important was what they tend to believe was needed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mate, you'd have to be pretty naive to take anything they say with any seriousness. It's obvious they're going to dissect it and look for the sensationalist side of the story. Otherwise the discussion would be over in about 2 minutes.
Can we get shot of this notion that Liverpool are getting rid!
Steven has been offered a new deal by Liverpool and is rejecting that deal, which he is more than entitled to do but the club is not getting rid!!!!!!!!!!!

There isnt many people closer to Gerrard than Carragher, and to suggest its typical journalistic waffling is being obtuse, he clearly knows more than most on the subject
If say Aldridge,or Nicol or anyone else was saying these things then yes they could be taken with a pinch of salt, the fact its Carragher then its clearly closer to the truth
But people can believe what they want, I wouldnt be at all surprised to see a U-turn before the season ends
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you need to look through all of Carra's articles before taking what he says as gospel. Just because he's ex Liverpool, doesn't make him immune to 'shock jock' tactics. He's not paid by Liverpool anymore, it the Mail that are his bosses now, and he'll write what they tell him to.

The notion that the club are casting aside Steven Gerrard is laughable and we have idiots on here making up theory's on here!

No one knows. What we know is that Gerrard is a top professional and if the new offer was derisory he won't let it leak in the middle of the season. We will probably hear more in the summer if there is a story to tell.

I am not taking what he says as gospel,I just saying what he is saying shouldnt just be cast aside as journalistic rubbish
Maybe is saying what Gerrard cant,or wont
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe.
But I don't trust anything Carra writes in that paper, so I'm inclined to think its BS. As term points out his article history (and that of the paper itself, Hitler sympathisers remember) supports this assumption.
Heres my two cents. Carragher is close to Gerrard so is (in my opinion) biased in his favour.
Yes Gerrard played very well in the second half yesterday but was by no means Liverpools best player. EVERYTHING we did well came through Coutinho and Henderson. He has had as many poor games as he had good games this season, something I'm sure Carragher will gloss over.
Finally he was offered a contract by the club. I dont know the terms of it but I'd be extremely surprised if it was nearly as lucrative as previous offers. He is well within his rights to turn it down, he owes the club nothing in my opinion, and take a big payday elsewhere.
It wouldn't at all surprise me if BR didn't try his hardest to keep Gerrard at the club.
Gerrard is a club legend. He has more stature at the club than Rodgers and until he leaves Rodgers is in his shadow.
This season we've moved Gerrard around a bit which to me suggests that Rodgers is having to find a spot for him in the team. We can rest him but its not possible to drop him indefinitely. Whenever we do drop/rest him, the media always talks about Gerrard. If we have a bad performance without him it because Gerrard isn't there. Rodgers needs to be in a position where he gets to choose who in in the team, based on formation, tactics, style of play, not because a player is a club legend and is undroppable.
He is still one of our better players individually but I believe we are a better team without him. And I think our best XI when Sturridge is back doesn't include him.
He played ok yesterday. He was better in the second half, but in the first, apart from the goal, he didn't do much. I thought Henderson, Markovic and Coutinho were better than him but he'll get the plaudits because he scored two goals.
