I have made the easiest £50 I will ever make by betting my mate that Kane would score more goals this season than Welbeck and that by the end of the season Kane would be an England International. I made this bet end of Sept and my mate laughed at me at the time saying "Who is Kane" well I think I am going to be having the last laugh in that regards.
Anyway when the next England squad is picked it will be a travesty if someone as average as Welbeck is there and Kane is not. Kane IS Englands future and Welbeck should be no where near the squad. Awful player.
Does anyone disagree with this?
Kane should take Welbecks place for England

Hasn't Sturridge played on the wing too? Does it even matter?
If you're on the pitch in a forward position you have a chance to score, and Welbeck has had 16 more times than Sturridge has of being on the pitch for England.

Sturridge is the better player though his Engalnd career has not been great but look at what happened when he got a good run of games through he middle for liverpool, he scores more goals then wellbeck.

Well Welbeck has a better strike rate than him already.
But what I am saying is a striker will score less on the wing than up front... Surely that is just common sense?!
Sturridge just hasn't really impressed so far, needs to do a lot more to secure a position in the England team. Don't think Sturrudge has played on the wing for England either, we move the players that actually do stuff for England out of the way for him.

Sturridge hasn't always been great for England, then again neither has Welbeck, and I'm pretty sure Welbeck had about the same kind of goalscoring record as Sturridge after his first 16 matches.
Sturridge scored quite a few goals on the wing for Chelsea. I'm sure he could do the same for England playing against the likes of San Marino.
People overrate Welbeck at international level.

Why would anyone drop Sturridge for Welbeck, who cares Welbeck has done well for England. You should be judged on your club form and Welbeck does not do it for his club, he does not do it for any club so he should be be in the squad. Sturridge when fit bangs them in all day for Liverpool, Kane is doing the same. Welbeck should be forgotten unless he improves.

Exactly Ledley why bring a striker cause he may do a job on the wing??? Play Sturridge as a central striker or don't play him at all.
For two years now when Sturridge has been fit he's scored far more goals then wellbeck.
Play a left winger on the left

Who cares about club form with regards to England selection?
Sturridge isn't that great for England, Welbeck is pretty good for England, this if we are picking one for England I would pick Welbeck, if we are picking the better club player than i would definately go for Sturridge.
All this is forgetting the fact Welbeck rarely plays upfront for England, it's all well and god saying let's replace him with x or y, but that player is going to have to play on the wing as well...
Or in a very strange lopsided formation...

But how else do you select a squad when they haven't met up for months?

England dont play with wingers....wide forwards who have licence to get in the box and score. Its flexible and at time, when attacking, we'll have 2 through the middle with the width coming from the FBs
Sturridge is more of a box striker but Wellbeck has proved useful.
Good to see some decent competition for places with young players, not just relying on Rooney et al to deliver the goods.

Tbh I hope Kane stays away from England for as long as possible
