Striker to reach double figures?

Will we any of our strikers reach the elusive 10 mark? We've gone from having a striker hitting 30 goals to not having one hit 10 .... Bad management, poor team selections, poor strikers? Out of the strikers we have, who do you rate to score 10 goals for us?

Antenucci - 8 - Looked odds on to reach double figures until he was dropped in favour of our new system. He should still get a couple from substitute appearances

Doukara - 7 - Same as above. Scored a few good goals yet when the midfield fell to part each week, the service dried up as did Doukara's goals.

Sharp - 3 - Looks like he'll pick up the odd goal here and their, but he doesn't play enough to be able to reach 10, I still don't rate him

Morison - 0 - Looks the most likely to score being as he is playing every week. Will he get 10? Will he get 1? Better hurry before he gets swapped.

Montenegro - 0 - Wont score 1 sadly

Cani - 0 - Can see him being another Habbibou, might get a header somewhere along the line and I hope he does well, not holding my breath.

What do you guys think about our strikers goal tally's? keep it football please

Good comment, agree totally. But the fact remains, he's been here two years and has scored how many goals....?

So, as the question asks, how long do you give him...?

-----------------------------------

While the team is winning and gathering momentum, with that player as a part in the bigger cog, then that's how long I give him.

It's too simplistic to say because he's the striker, ergo he must score. To an extent it's true - but he may be offering the team (it is a team game) an option that unlocks defences for others to score.

You can change a winning team and drop him, but then you're going against most popular opinion in the world of football by doing so.

Never change a winning ........................

To persist with one that doesn't for any length of time is a calamity

----------------------------------------------------

That's true as well. But then with Morison just how much game time has he had since joining? How many times has he had run of more than 60 mins football in the side? In Jan 15 he's been given a run in the side, not scored, but the "team" are picking up points - winning even.

Those who witness him in the ground can see he's contributing (a lot) to that upturn in form.

Feel free to write to NR and demand he be dropped. Personally I think most would disagree with you right now .............

I don't understand why anyone would want to change a winning team....a team unbeaten in 4 games.

Doesn't make sense at all.

My point is I think we can do better. I have accepted and acknowledged that he's working hard and whilst he's here I expect him to play and be committed to the cause, if he's the best we have.

If you read back over the posts, my comment relates to getting someone in that does all he does and more. When I say more I mean score goals. This is what I see as the main reason for having what we in England call a striker

I have not said he isn't contributing, I am saying that I (that's me by the way) doesn't think he's good enough and that we could do better. He can run around all he wants but if he's not burying the ball in the net he's not performing to the level I expect for someone in the role.

That's my opinion.

What I would say is this, had LUFC gone out in this window and brought in a recognised prolific striker would you want him left on the bench or would you persist with Steve Morison....?

And how long for...?

I think you make your points well Eric, I just happen to disagree.

Great this forum for disagreeing about subjects eh .....

No it isn't

Which part do you actually disagree with...?

Do you disagree we could not do better...?

Do you disagree that a striker should score goals....?

Or do you just disagree....?

Do you disagree we could do better even...?

I just disagree - it's the easiest stance to take. Avoids any confusion that way.

Keep it up.

We can do better.

I believe there's a better formation within our current crop of players. I want to see a team set up to attack, two strikers. It's the way Leeds United has always been successful.

We might not have out and out wingers but there is width.

Do you see teams in the Premiership playing one formation? No. We're too tunnel vision.
