Just a quick though on this situation why did we feel the need to go public over this offer?
Arsenal did not put the offer in writing they simply made a phone call and placed an informal bid which we rejected.
So are we trying to push a sale for Cahill through by going public or is it Cahill's agents who were made aware of the bid going public trying to force our hand and make us sell him this window?
I know Owen has to speak about these things as i am sure the media were all over this story before the press conference this morning and grilled him over the bid but the fact that Wenger has not spoken about it seems odd to me he is under real pressure to add new faces but he is keeping quiet on this bid at present.
I have a feeling this is more our doing than Arsenal's as we try to get the best price we can for him this window before he is free to leave next summer for nowt.
Why did we go public on the bid?

Worrying thing is Gooners think it is a fair price for him

Maybe we shamed him into sticking a bit more onto the bid and we accepted it will be interesting to see the team news now ahead of the Liverpool game if Cahill is not in it then he is gone.

I think we did it to embarrass Wenger.
Noticably, he didn't feature for the Carling Cup game so he wouldn't get cup tied!

Maybe Coyle was taking a look at Knight and Wheater together just incase we don't get a replacement in before the window closes.
