Sad to say but I've had enough of these guys....
Lamela was a poor buy, even against an Italian team which is supposedly how he made his name he looked weak and pathetic.
Paulinho is not a CM, He does nothing well. Dribbling, passing, tackling or closing down. Why Poch continues to play him as CM only he knows.
I am usually happy to give players a chance but considering these guys cost us £47m and a lot of wages. I would prefer to see academy players replace them if Poch can't find better replacements in summer.
I would 100% prefer to see Stambouli, Capoue, Onomah or Alli play instead of Paulinho as a CM.....It really grates me.
Bentaleb had a good game considering he didn't really have a CM partner to play with. I think this affected our game and tempo.
In Poch's formation the CM positions are key to anything good that we do. Why he persists with Paulinho in that position I will never know.
I'm not making Paulinho a scapegoat for why we drew but he definitely affected how we played.
Lamela...well he's just too weak to play in our the midfield. His ball retention is getting worse. IF Poch wants to play him he needs to put him in a position which doesn't require pace or strength to beat a man (subs bench?)
Paulinho and Lamela (forget it)

Lamela just cannot stop giving the ball away.
yesterday he came on, and just started giving it away straight away. whats wrong with him?
he is a skllfull player why can he not just make a pass to the man's feet. he is a pain in the arseeee atm but I will give him the whole of next season then judge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wants to much time on the ball, which invites pressure, which makes him rush what he's doing and give the ball away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he should have learnt by now to release the ball early. How hard is it? to not take more than two touches in the midfield.

Lamela is one of the worst I've ever seen at Spurs. And I've seen some duffers....to top it off he cost 30m...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously his performance yesterday was embarrassing. The ease at which he gave the ball away was very schoolboy/amateur. I wouldn't expect that even amongst our youngest academy players.

He can do drag backs with his studs which is difficult with these new shiny balls

Vertonghens drag back in our penalty box was crazy, entertaining but crazy.

Even Lamelas best moment exposed his weaknesses, as he only attempted the rabona because he has absolutely no right foot!

Lamela had been very good for us of late, against the Goonz he was excellent and he is improving all the time.
He puts a shift in for the team and suits Poch`s system.
One bad 20 minute sub appearance and all of a sudden he is `the worst player seen at Spurs` ffs, give the lad a break, he is just 22.
We should be glad to have a promising young player like Lamela at the club, I can remember the misery of players like Jose Dominguez, Andy Sinton and Grzegorz Rasiak pulling on the Spurs shirt ffs.

I think Paulie will be gone in the summer without a doubt but feel that Poch will keep Lamela, not so much because he is a good player but more the fact he is a fellow Argie, which for me would be a shame as I feel we need to cut our losses on him, much like we need to on Soldado.

I would agree with you if we were rich like City or Chelsea and we could afford £30m to take it's time to bed in and grow some B@LLs. But unfortunately we aren't.

We have not paid £30m for Lamela, his fee was a total consideration of 30m euros if all incentive and target payments are met. So way short of the £30m the sensationalist media like to report.
The club can afford to take even a £50m hit, as we have not spent a penny (net) on the transfer of players for 5 years, in fact we have made a profit in that time.
One or two bad performances is no reason to write any player off, I remember the same being written about Bale and Walker for example, and very recently some were writing Kane off as never being good enough for the first team.
There is such a thing as improvement, I have actually been impressed with Lamela recently, but inconsistency is still a problem for him.
