We are appealing Matic's red card. Hopefully we are successful.

Barnes the villian of the peice will get away scot free...because it was an on the ball incident & the ref took no action
----------------
He'll get a minimum of three games.

I was not expecting Barnes t be punished, the ref clearly decided it was not worth punishment on the day from what he saw and they are the rules. He was wrong but that happens, they re only human. He was wrong a lot but he isn't the first, he had a bad day at the office.

Did Vertonghen raise his hands and push over another player? Yes, Is that a sendoing off offence, Yes, was he provoked no, was he carded no, not even a yellow.
Did Matic do the same, yes, only he was severly provoked and was punished, deservedly so.
Based on what happened to Vertonghen then he has every right to appeal, if the Vertonghen incident had not occurred I would be more dubious about doing it, as for the Worcester player that's their call.
-------------------------------------------
You clearly have no idea how the appeals work. If the ref said he saw the Vertonghen incident, that's the end of the matter regardless of how bad the incident is. In the case of Matic the ref saw the incident and acted on it. The referee has a very large degree of discretion as to the interpretation of the yellow and red card offences. For this reason, refereeing decisions are sometimes controversial. Besides, the onus is now on Matic to justify why the red card must be rescinded, which Vertonghen did not have to do. Each incident is decided on its own and they won't bother to dig up for Vertonghen's video to compare. Forget it.

Of course I have no idea, I have never seen the appeals process but would gladly read it if you can produce it, my views are based on assumptions, I certainly assume the club know the rules and whilst I have said all along I do not expect the FA to overturn the ruling I believe the Vetonghen incident is enough for Chelsea to make an appeal without the FA deeming it to be frivolous. I am not expcting Vertonghens incident to be used to clear Matic but to protect him from further punishment from the claim.
The FA should not be allowed to sit easy in these circumstances and hide behind cowardly rules.

Barnes foul was horrific of course. But, if Matic gets his red rescinded then the FA are basically saying "yes by all means retaliate if the original tackle is bad enough".
---------
Yup, which is why they would consider it a frivolous dismissal.
You'd have something akin to ice hockey happening.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry mate but this is just the biggest load of nonsense I have ever read in my life. No offence.

Why Mr C, why... and don't start with that it's not you, it's me.. crap.

2 ex refs have come out and said that a push is a yellow and not a red and that is listening to the radio for just a couple of hours.
