After watching what I consinder to be a mentally challenging second half (yet again) last night, here, I'd like to share my player ratings with you followed by a brief comment for each Ram.
Grant: (6) Probably the most difficult player to sum up. Great stop from the free kick (which looked from an identical spot as Sheff Weds but he never sniffed that one), at times poor distribution and by the 25th time he'd played a goal kick out wide to Forsyth, I think Charlton had sussed it.
Christie: (6) Looked nervous again, but occasionally linked up well with Ince. He has a definate reluctance to put in a decent first time cross, unlike last season.
Forsyth: (7) Good going forward, some good crosses, got caught out a couple of times, but fairly solid generally.
Keogh: (7) I am a critic of the man, but I thought he was very good last night. Some great blocks, some good distribution and our best defender.
Shotton: (6) Looked rusty. Some rubbish clearences, especially late on. OK in the air, but lost his man too often and made the whole defence look vulnerable at times.
Thorne: (8) Derby's best player last night. Great control, great vision, great distribution, great tracking back and strength. A very good holding midfielder display.
Hendrick: (7) Well placed for the goal, would love to see him get forward more, but on the whole a decent perfomance.
Hughes: (7) Excellent first half, but he was being targeted by Charlton. Took a few fairly heavy knocks, none of which appeared to be seen by the referee.
Quieter second half and looked to be struggling when he went off.
Ince: (6) Absent second half, but again Charlton did a job on him. Looked to create a lot in the first half and his curling effort was only just wide.
Lingard: (6) Similar to Ince, very quiet second half, but looked dangerous in the first. Took his goal very well.
Bent (5) Quiet game, but did well with the assist for Hendrick's goal. Apart from that, he didn't do a lot. Chased the Charlton keeper down well, which I like to see from a forward.
Subs: Dawkins (4) losing patience with him because he looks so easy to knock off the ball. Looks weak and fairly lacklustre.
Mascarell: (4) Not good enough. Gives the ball away too much. Should be behind Thorne and Eustace when it comes to selection.
What McClaren said a couple of weeks ago about getting the right result and not necessarily a glittering performance, was how it was last night. It makes me very nervous that we invite teams (Norwich, Leeds, Southport, Brighton, Forest, Charlton, Rotherham, etc ) to come and attack us when we're winning. It can't possibly always work out well.

Don't agree about Thorne being man of the match or that Dawkins was rubbish when he came on. Thought Hughes and Hendrick were by far our best two players. Dawkins has been going outside the defendedr in the last two games and causing far more problems.
Mascerell appeared to be wanting to impress with quality long balls and was missing out last night. Reminded me of his first appearance on the opening day of the season where he kicked it out of play with his first six kicks. Only one of his passes to Bent came off but Bent was given offside. Playing the 40 yard pass only looks good when it goes to our players.

Shotton made two excellent tackles first half which had he mistimed would probably have seen him off or Charlton through on goal, Grant of course would have stopped them but that's not the point.
Thought Christie was showing signs of beginning to get it together again, if he can keep his composure in the final third and find some confidence in his shooting game, he'd be up there with the legend that is the Dawks.
That subs bench is going to be pretty competitive when the Eust, Martin and Russell come back. Assuming of course Will and George will be okay.
Pray for them.

Was it Dawkins who came on for Lingard? I could of sworn it was Ward.

2 Wellies
May as well have been Nick Pickering for the impact Dawkins had.

Dawks will come good, would start with him and Ward on Saturday keep the Lingard and Ince aces up our sleeves.
