Floyd is bookie's overwhelming favourite

to win the fight. Just been looking at the betting odds and was quite suprised.

Is there any point of actually watching this fight if Floyd is such an overwhelming favourite to win ?

I heavily suspect that Floyd will win by decision, especially as the fight is in Vegas and I can't see the judges ever giving a close call in Manny's favour.

But nevertheless does nobody think that Manny at least has a puncher's chance of a ko/tko against Floyd ??

By the way I want this to be a serious boxing discussion. None of this playground slagging off BS that we've been been getting in previous articles.

As I recall when Pacquiao faced Oscar in dec 2008 Mayweather had been on sabbatical for a year. Having beaten D Diaz for the 130lb title that summer manny was generally regarded as the p4p no1. However he was the underdog for the Oscar fight based on the size difference. As it turned out cutting to 147 affected Oscar a lot more than moving up did for manny (think he weighed in at 142) and the rest is history. Since that fight manny has never been the bookies underdog in a match in 7 years til he signed to fight Mayweather.

Absolutely no point referencing as far back as the Ledwaba and MAB fights, they were so long ago they have no bearing on a fight in 2015. As the pic on the following link indicates there is no size disparity between the two men, it is an even fight between two men of equal stature whose careers have followed a similar path size wise (although manny needed some specialist input from Alex Ariza to retain his power at LWW & WW)

Cheers Ace, I learnt something there and it's much appreciated (I had it in my head that it was that fight that made him no.1

BTW I still don't think D4 actually knew that, he spouts comments about Manny all the time and how does the saying go 'Even a broken clock is right twice a day'

Prove it

Gotta disagree with you their Ace, think his knowledge is lacking quite a bit and he gets by by being daft about Manny and Floyd .

Well if that's the case, hopefully he'll start posting about stuff like that soon, as his Manny guff makes him look childish and idiotic and doesn't look like he does anything other than look at boxrec, other opinion sites and uses them as 'knowledge' (not that I have an issue with that, just when someones trying to convince everyone they're superior.)

Superb you found mannys comment about floyd being an easy fight interesting but what do you make of this comment:

Freddie roach on floyd:

"The guy is undefeated, he's a very good boxer and he's the most talented fighter we'll ever face. He's tricky also... he's intelligent as a fighter. I believe we need to fight the perfect fight."

What do I think of those comments??

I think they're very respectful and rightly so, Floyd is up until now an undefeated champion. Roach isn't a trash talker anyway.

Roach did go on to say " I'm confident that we'll win the fight".

That nothing compared to what Roger Mayweather has been saying about Pacquiao, saying that Pacquiao "ain't $hit" and how "Floyd is going to beat the $hit out of Pacquiao".
