Around this time last year he was heavily linked with the Spurs job and I remember a load of you jizzing your pants at the prospect of a proven winner managing your club.
I argued then that he was past it and would flop and was called bitter/jealous/wum etc.
So what say you now? For the record I've liked Poch from what he's done from Southampton and thought he would do a very good job for Spurs, always said that when he joined and thought you would finish top 4 (I don't anymore, I think Liverpool and Arsenal will).
Do you still rate LVG?

Not upset at all Bill, just find you (or at least you written though out opinions) largely tedious.
How is it you see it too early to judge? We are a large way through the season, and he still has no idea what system suits his team the best, no idea what his best team is, no idea what tactics get the best out of those on the pitch, and, solely basing it on my opinion from what I've seen, little idea of how to motivate his team.
And as the original post asks what say we now? I assume that it's asking us to judge at this moment in time. As it was when I asked the question. Time may change opinion, but I doubt there is a single Spurs fan out there today that would trade LVG for Poch currently.

I said on here yesterday or the day before, I watched United vs Arsenal earlier in the season and they robbed Arsenal blind that day, could have easily lost by 3 or 4 that day, they were awful. They look no better now than they did back then.

Yet for all that negativity about him, he and his team are sitting 4th in he league, well placed to maintain that position, only having lost only two of the last twenty matches the team have played.
Not bad for a failure.
But what has happened is that he has failed to carry the supporters with him because of the style of play, which we, or certainly I, was completely pisssed off about when AVB tried it at Spurs.
So in answer to your question why do I consider it too early to judge, it is because, despite the criticism I would rather Spurs were in their position even though only time will tell if he improves on what he took over.
The fact that most Spurs fans would not swap our manager for LVG is neither here nor there, we are discussing LVG.

You're perfectly right, United do sit in the top 4. Where you one of the supporters of Sherwood to keep his job in the summer or against it? (I assume for it, as I know the majority were against and you do so love an opposite viewpoint)
I only ask because, general consensus was we picked up a lot of points in spite of Sherwood rather than because of him.
United has a team packed with quality, at an expense that would make Levy's eyes water, and, despite several early injuries, top 4 is the absolute minimum, not a success.
For a team like Spurs, absolute minimum is about 7-8th, we're above that.
A team like Villa, absolute minimum is 17th, they dropped below, Lambert lost his job.
For United, after what they spent, absolute minimum is 4th.
Is LVG a success? No, not in my book. At least not presently which is what the article is asking.

No, I thought Sherwood was a prat. And despite him having a good win percentage I have said on many occasions that the win percentage was based on too few games and was invalid.
Please read my first comment on this thread, you will see, quite clearly my view is that it is too early to judge LVG. Your view is different, fair enough. But you qualify that with your last comment, "not presently" which seems to suggest that you will review your opinion in the future.
There you go, we agree!!!

Not at all, read my comment, I did say, time may change opinion, but asked if I still rate LVG, the answer is no.
I rated his record when we were linked with him. But I didn't rate his style at the World Cup, but got results.
Seeing him this year, the quality United have has pulled the through, but I don't rate him.
Not too sure what we're arguing over here, but you say it's too soon to judge him, I'm saying it can't be as I've already judged him.

I wouldn’t say LVG is past it but sometimes a manager does not suit a certain league.
What gets me is you get ex-players and pundits saying LVG needs 3 years - yet Moyes weren’t given a full season - and they didnt quote the 3 season rule back then.
I personally hate all this "he needs 3 years" stuff. If a potential manager cannot look at the squad at hand and think he can make an immediate improvement then he is not the right man for the job.
Of course it can take 3 years to get back to the top, but no manager should need 3 years to make an improvement. And this goes for anyone - not just LVG.
