Lots of talk about what the best league in the world is. There are the usual arguments about quality, competiveness, superstars, performance in Europe etc.
The reason the PL is the best league is because with this huge £5 billion TV deal they signed, all the clubs agreed to give £1 billion of that back to English football and the lower level clubs and grassroots football.
They weren't forced to do it, they all voted to do it. There are far too many negative stories out there but this is actually a case where common decency wins and should ensure the entire league remains the strongest pyramid system in world football. La Liga is the league most think the best in the league but how can a league where so many clubs are in financial trouble and who get the ass-end of the TV deals be considered a league (operative word being league) that is a fair set of teams?

Why the PL is the best league in the world.

Marcelino has done very well on this thread
People with narrow minds who don't diversify their interest in other leagues think that because Leicester can occasionally beat Utd the PL is more 'competitive'.
What the PL has going for it is that it is the best advertised league in the world. It has recently held the 'best league in the world' crown, and in terms of drama/entertainment it is probably the top league in the world.
I once read a great comparison about the PL, that it is like two boxers constantly going for knockout punches. Which is entertaining on face value, but is haphazard at best in terms of quality.
I love the PL, but there is a LOT that needs to be changed for it to overtake La Liga.

Ahh fair enough Cinci, my bad.

And yet the PL at the same time has enforced rules on academy ownership to ensure that they can take the cream of the crop and now only pay a nominal fee for the privilege, with the threat of reducing solidarity payments if the football league clubs didn't go along with it.
The PL clubs may not have been forced to do it, but this is an issue created by them in the first place. I certainly wouldn't go as far as giving them credit. Self-serving tosspots, the lot of them.

Which is a better league?
Usually the answer is fairly related to the club one supports, or the kind of football one generally looks up to.
If one is into fluid, passing football, or supports any of the Spanish clubs, he is more likely to go with La Liga, and the same works in the other way, where a person is more familiarised to football where strength always has an upper hand, or supports a Premier League club, will perhaps go with EPL !!
The Spanish clubs have always been technically steps ahead of that of Premier League’s, and that is mostly due to the kind of football they have adapted to. Pre-match training for Spanish clubs focuses more on their passing and team chemistry, enabling players to be technically more sound and versatile in comparison to the ones in England.
English football is more about the physical aspect of the game where teams with high tempos and physically strong players tend to triumph. Matches are more about clearing long balls and winning the ball back instead of covering more ground or making those pin-point short passes. If that is the kind of football you prefer, La Liga is definitely not the league for you.
La Liga is more competitive than what people expect it to be; it is just that Real Madrid and Barcelona are very good, and they just don’t dominate Spain, they have dominated the whole of Europe for their fair share of time. Atletico Madrid have been in and around the top three spot for almost a decade now!!
If La Liga clubs were financially as stable as the ones in England, there wouldn’t be a single debate on which league has the best players. Clubs like Atletico, Sevilla, Villareal, Valencia etc... have been losing their key players to the Premier League for quite some time now- players like Silva, Juan Mata or Fernando Torres, these are the crop of players coming through their academies, and hasn’t stopped developing at all and they will continue to do so in the coming years.
We could obviously talk about young prospects such as Jack Wilshere or Raheem Sterling, but they're no comparison to the likes of Isco's and Koke's
It is just not about employing the right coaches, it is more to do with their set up implementing their vision/philosophy of football in all club level.
The football culture in Spain enables young players to grow into football superstars, and that is something that you can’t just emulate.
Speaking of players, the individuals that are produced in Spain are more superior to that of England, and the culture of football that exists in the country is solely responsible for Spain National Team recent success.

I'd say it's 'arguably' the best in the world and the previous contributions back up that statement.
It certainly is by far the best marketed league and obviously the one TV networks fall over themselves to get on board.
