It appears that Manchester City are going to try and take 3 of Liverpool's prize assets.
Thoughts?

Hope Milner doesn't turn out to be another Joe Cole.

To be fair, having made my lame joke, I would say that whilst no one will ever label Milner world class, I doubt there is a team in the PL that wouldn't want him in their squad (except for City apaparently).

Have iq' dropped?
City have offered him a contract he hasn't signed it.
How does that equate to city not wanting him or being happy for him to leave?
How?

I suspect the use of the word squad is key here.
I'm pretty sure City would want to keep him as a squad player, they offered him a contract after all.
However, Milner is 29 now and he's been playing in the EPL for circa 12 years. In that time he's only really been considered a first team at Villa (on-off at Newcastle).
If he's going looking for games, whether that's at Liverpool or elsewhere, than good on him.

Depends what you mean by wanting him then doesn't it.
If by wanting him you mean waiting until the final 9 months of his contract to offer him a new one, on terms he isn't completely happy with, then yes they want him.
If by wanting him you mean regularly playing underwhelming players such as Nasri or either of your CMs who are not Yaya, then yeah, they want him.
If by wanting him you mean actually making him feel like a valued member of the squad who ought not to be considering going to Arsenal/Liverpool (and is he actually going to be a constant first 11 pick at either?) then no, they apparently don't want him.

IMO I think Milner will bring more to LFC than Joe Cole did. He's more of a grafter. Joe Cole was better in terms of skill and technical ability.
Will the hunger still be there, he has won all domestic honours? He should become a first team regular if his work rate is good. He could provide composure and experience to avoid a situation like Crystanbul from re-occurring - this could be key.

Are you talking about Milner here or Xabi Alonso?

Not exactly Xabi
But Milner would be a senior model pro for the English youth coming through the ranks. He'd be a mentor. Was he in the City team when they dramatically won the title in '12?

Not read the replies but this story did make me laugh.
I was walking home with a mate after work on Tuesday and was eulogising about how great it would be to become a sports reporter in a tabloid. Basically just make up absolute bollócks and get paid handsomely whilst hiding behind "sources".
I then said to him that I could make up a believable story in that Henderson would be going to City cos they need English players and could need a box-to-box type player were Toure to leave. He lives in the North West and his contract is coming to an end.
There we go.

Would signing three Liverpool players increase our chances of bettering ourselves in Europe next season? If we even get in that is!....
