We should sign that Everton winger

Aaron Lennon............looks like a hard worker and would be a better bet than having Lamela.

Lennon injury free is a very good player to have in your squad. Everton will want him on the perm but I think we should keep him.

Lennon is far from our biggest worry, a consistent performer, hard worker and offers a different dynamic.

He certainly has his place in our squad, arguably even in our starting XI, there are players who we need to get rid of more.

Everton are a great club<okay>

Mind you the first time I saw Spurs play was in October 1958 & Everton were the opponents.

We won 10-4

Still see Daniel amokachi running past us poking his tongue out at us after he scored at elland road in that f a cup semi where they spanked us

Amongst all the semi finals we've lost in my 25 years of supporting Spurs, that one rankles the most

I was at wembley when we lost to the gooners and ot aswell,all 3 were bad days but you're right we just never showed up against Everton.

Beating the gooners at wembley and the semi final at highbury where we beat wolves were 2 of my best days at football.

I don't care what anyone says, Everton are a huge club that have alot in common with us. Proper club. To say we are in another level is cringeworthy.

This

Everton have had a poor season but to suggest there's a gulf in class between the two sides is daft.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
on the field very similar not a class apart but off of it we are a much bigger club and thats not meant disrespectfully to everton. but more fans, much bigger turnover, better history, state of the art training ground and a state of the art stadium on the way.

to be fair if we wanted john stones as arrogant as it sounds we could get john stones from them, everton could not buy a player off of us.

i always state this but the top 7 clubs are united,city,arsenal,chelsea,spurs,liverpool and everton there is a huge gulf in class between us and the rest of the premier league.

you will always have an aggregate position in the league unless something strange happens. (like our stint with ramos) even then we rose from 20th to 8th beating the likes of arsenal and chelsea on the way.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Granted at present you have more funds, won't find many blues who disagree with you, but how do you think you have a better history than a club who is more successful and older? Plus if you wanted John Stones you could get him, that would be funny as well if it wasn't us buying one of your players.

Billy,

Lennon has had his day with Spurs, he never takes on his full back any more, his crossing is woeful, he very rarely assists a goal and has not really improved his game with us for 5 years at least, and all this with the shooting ability of a 12 year old.

It`s time we upgraded, and Lamela has already been an improvement on Lennon this season, with a few goals and assists.

Lamela will improve, Lennon will not.

===============

I agree that Lennon will probably never play for Spurs again but I disagree with pretty much everything else you have posted. Lennon DOES still take on his fullback – whereas I don’t think I have ever witnessed Lamela take on anybody and it is a myth that Lennon can’t cross. I admit it isn’t his game to get to the byline and whip it over Beckham-style but he will get behind his fullback and cut (cross) it back, or at least add something to a general attack. Lennon may not get on the assists stat list for the last pass before a goal, but his general input to attacking play makes him invaluable to any team.

And it is no surprise to me that since his arrival on Merseyside, Everton’s goal tally is has increased tenfold, and their goals conceded have also reduced. Lennon is much more than just a speed merchant – he is more an all round team player, in attack and defence, and simply deserved more chances under Poch, especially seeing how many chances Lamela has been given. Lamela may get an assist here and the odd goal, but he is simply woeful in our own half and his negative attributes massively outweigh the good.

As I expressed at the time of the TW, we should have loaned out Lamela and kept Lennon, and maybe then we wouldn’t see articles saying one of the players we need to come in is a “pacey winger”, we could save ourselves over £15m – and maybe even make money if we off load Lamela who IMO has been tried, tested and has failed.

Sorry, but that’s my view on the matter..

Lennon has had some off field trouble lately. Never thought he was that type.

You're deluded. Spurs maybe a better run club off the field,but you're not at a level where you can cherry pick our players. If we can hold onto Baines when Utd came calling,we can rebuff any unwanted bids for our players from Spurs.

===================

Afraid so. I have mentioned on here a few times (when certain other players have been criticised for (alleged) bad behaviour behind the scenes), that the rest of the squad are not perfect either. I even singled out Lennon as I have witnessed him many times acting like a right plonker down Faces nightclub, jumping on tables, dancing like an electric eel on speed, mocking others around him – I’m just surprised it’s never been picked up on before (what with social media and all that).

In saying this, the latest story about the waitress seems to have a few holes in it as there doesn’t appear to be any witnesses at all – so i'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one for now .

Alas,

I agree. I hardly think any Everton players are going to wet their pants at being linked to a move to us. I still think it’s worth our while bidding for Stones though .

Stones will be an asset to any club,and I know if he keeps on developing like he is,we'll have a hard job keeping him. I can't see Spurs spending mega money on a defender tho.
