I'm going to go with Nicolino Locche.
At a time when we're talking a lot about great defensive fighters due to Floyd Mayweather most boxing fans know about Willie Pep and Pernell Whitaker.
But Nicolino Locche isn't a name that many boxing fans have probably even heard before.
Maybe the fact that Locche was Argentinian and fought a lot of his fights there didn't help his cause in terms of becoming a bigger name, but he was a light welterweight world champ with a very impressive fight record.
Known in Argentina as El Intocable or The Untouchable in English he was just as allusive and difficult to hit as Willie Pep.

Very interesting. Just wondering how it would have been legal to essentially change the rules by scoring a fight so differently to convention.
Didn't realise that Locche was a big hugger. Bit of Philly Shell going on there as well.

Yeah I just had a bit of a read up on him, very interesting.
He fought in the 70's so if he'd turned pro he would have fought in that golden era.
Did that have anything to do with it as well ?

There's also the fact Castro wouldn't have allowed him to turn professional, with one comment he keeps everyone on side but make no mistake he would have loved the opportunity to turn professional.
