I don't blame Sterling

Firstly Spurs fan in peace and I know the subject has been done to death but I wanted to put my point across.

I have never seen a player be so pressurised to sign a new contract, its like Liverpool are out to simply shame and force Sterling to sign a new contract and have used every dirty tactic to do so.

Don't get me wrong from fans view i can understand people turning on him, but Brendan and people associated with the club (ex players) have basically painted Raheem in a bad light to put pressure on him. Just some of the things I have read.

There is no better place for Sterling to develop..............Yes there is and he could potentially earn a lot more and win major trophies to boot.

He has achieved nothing in his career...........well apart from being Liverpool's best young player and one of the best young players in the league, besides maybe that is his point, he has achieved nothing at Liverpool

He owes Liverpool.........why does he he signed a contract with Liverpool and is honouring that contract and as long as he continues to he owes Liverpool nothing.

He is greedy..............if he was greedy he would have signed the 100k contract as currently I believe he is on 30k per week, so in effect he is 70k down on what he could have been earning.

Basically Liverpool have had there nose put out of joint because one of your best players wants to join someone else and It does not seem like Liverpool and especially ex-pros can handle it. The fact is Liverpool are a great club with great history BUT they are not a great team and have not been for a long time. 1 League cup in 9 years and 1 app in the Champs League in 6 shows that. Just like my Club spurs your best players will eventually look elsewhere if things are not happening as they should. He probs remembers playing with Suarez and now looks around and see's Ricky Lambert or Ballotelli and thinks I am not going to learn from these guys and this club is not getting to where I wanna be anytime soon.

So my point is let the guy leave and show some class, as a fan who has been through the same many times with Spurs its a kick in the teeth, but Liverpool have conducted themselves poorly and painted Sterling as the problem, if handled differently it may have been turned around, cannot see that now.

Do we even know if they're actually interested other than media rumours.

Which lends weight to the argument that it isn't about the money no?

Guy just wants out

"but 1 trophy in 9 seasons"

Could've sworn we won the FA Cup in 2006.

Not for me. If he was wanted by those clubs, well City and Chelsea not so much Arsenal, then you could understand him going there; guaranteed CL, win trophies and on top of that money, but have they actually said they want him. I think he's looking for more money.

for sure the story would take a surreal turn if he threw all those liverpool toys out of the pram only to find that the only club to come in for him is Spurs...

blimey, this is hard work.

you won the fa cup in the 05/06 season.

since then there have been the following 9 seasons:
06/07
07/08
08/09
09/10
10/11
11/12
12/13
13/14
14/15

so you have not won the fa cup in the past 9 seasons, you have just won the one league cup in the last 9 seasons.

It makes it more interesting if its not about trophies either.

Maybe the club?

He'll walk into any starting XI in England. Easily. City has spot(s), Willian and Oscar aren't as good, Arsenal have a spot available next to Ozil and Sanchez, and United are just terrible and he can pick one of multiple places. Ashley young is their best player by a mile FFS.

He is leaving for trophies. All those sides will pay him 100k a week or more.

He's just going about it in completely wrong way because of his horrendous agent and making enemies, trying half as hard since he decided to 'engineer' his move on his agents advice.

He could have simply signed the new deal, put a bit more effort (he had a chance at trophies and the top 4) and not burned bridges to get a move he would have gotten anyway. Everyone who wants out gets their move.

and, with bias admitted, he's only just turned 20, one more year at the club who invested lots of time, effort, and faith in him (as well as helping him through court when he wobbled, helping him get rest in Jamaica to avoid burnout and generally protecting him from overuse including with the national side) wouldn't harm his career and someone should remind him that you don't spit in the face of people who helped you get to where you are.
