Hey guys,
I am really upset with the way we have bowed down to Real Madrid's demands over the last decade. We always pay a high fee for players and let go of ours on the cheap.
Selling RvN for 11m, Cristiano for 80m and Woodward bending over and paying 60m for Di Maria who was on his way out.
As we know De Gea would not sign an extension with us therefore we can't command a fee like what Liverpool did for Suarez. So what are your thoughts on not selling him and keeping him as second choice throughout the season as he definitely doesn't want to be playing for us.
Madrid surely wouldn't want a player who has been on the bench most of the season. So they either pay the 40-50m fee we demand or just wait for a year.
I am a big fan of De Gea and it would hurt me if he was benched for a year, but we need to prove that we are a big club and not bend over to Real's demands.
PS. Wrote this in a hurry, sorry for any grammatical errors.

It's an official stat.

official is a subjective term depending on who it stating it to be official.

Tbh though, that's total shots, not shots on goal.
That said, Barça tend to leave more space at the back, so I'd imagine that of they few shots they do face, a fairly high proportion will be on target.

VV would be a great back up keeper, but with you having CL (should you qualify) and with you having to challenge for the title to justify the spending you need a better keeper.

On a broader topic, it's amusing how people have been saying for years how poorly Barça defend, yet year after year they post some of the best defensive stats in Europe.

Their midfield does the defending. This season their attack did most of the defending from the front.

they keep the ball for such long periods, it's fairly obvious why they have a decent record.

Of course. What's interesting is how that approach still isn't generally viewed as "defending", when it's proven in recent years to be one of the best approaches to prevent goals.

We have one of the best keepers in the world who will be Spain's number 1 for many years.
So can someone give me 1 benefit of selling to Madrid unless they are prepared to pay silly money?
The positives of not selling are as follows
1) Madrid and most importantly all players joining utd will realise we are not a spring board for them to join Madrid
2)Utd are about the only club that can take the financial repercussionin their stride so if they don't stand up the Epl will continue to lose its world class players to Madrid/bar a
3)a year is a long time, anything can happen. Change of heart, Madrid ban, god forbid injury or loss of form for ddg. Will Madrid still be in a position or want to sign him?
4) the whole world is watching and expecting utd to bend over, I honestly can't think of a stronger statement of intent than going out and buying another top keeper and benching ddg if Madrid try to short change us or ddg does a Gareth bale and demands to leave
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Been saying this since. There is not one benefit in getting rid. Considering all the plebs who tell us constantly that money is not an issue. There is literally no money worth selling ddg right now. Nothing worse than bringing in a new keeper and having to bed him in. We have qualifiers, and a key season ahead to make sure we do not drop out of the top 4 like the liverpools and spurs of the league. Imagine a goalie going true a taibi first season or even de gea like first season. Not even schmicheals settled quickly. We could be 10th and done if a keeper lets in a few soft ones. Not worth it. We should be telling him he is not going, simple as. That is the whole point of a contract and having the financial leverage we have.

And the chances are, if he doesn't go to Madrid this summer, I think he'll sign a new contract. I don't think he's unhappy at United, just that he would prefer to go to Madrid now for family reasons as much as any.
I'd want £40m for him to let him go this summer. If Madrid don't come up with it then I'd keep him.
