So it looks like Danny Garcia has finally made his move up to 147 and his opening fight at the division will be against none other than Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi. Now this is a pretty mundane and unenthusiastic fight for the fans but I did not expect anything less. There are too many variables involved when it comes to Garcia at 147 to put him in with the big boys straight off the bat. This fight makes sense in terms of a long campaign in the 147 division and it will tell us a bit about what kind of fighter Garcia will be at the weight. The big questions will be whether or not his power and punch resistance carry to 147. Malignaggi is coming off a 1 year lay off and he has the speed and the ring IQ but at this stage in his career he is nothing but a gate keeper.
Thoughts on the fight?

Paulie would trouble garcia a few years back but he doesn't have the chin or power to beat him. Garcia is an underrated boxer and his last few fights have been tough for him. Only time will tell how good he is at 147.

i suppose making the weight may have taken something outta Danny, I still maintain that if Paulie has anything left in the tank he causes him problems with his movement (doesnt scratch him mind you!) Was the Garcia/Peterson not at catchweight ?or did he have some problems making weight or soemthing like that ??

Good to see Danny Garcia moving up
Maybe a rematch with Khan is on the cards

I'd want to see them all
What a quality packed division
Paulie shouldn't give Danny too many problems
I suppose Danny wasn't going to pick one of the top welters as his first opponent at the weight

Hopefully Danny Swift will have a bigger impression on the welterweight division than Broner has so far as well as Khan for that matter who's done little at this weight yet apart from pretend he's on Mayweather's level.

up the same way ... all still have the same limitations they have had at the lower weights..... Danny poor stamina meaning low workload, poor slow footwork still has the power tho, knocks out all those who dont have a decent chin, will not beat anyont that has a decent chin and movement, Broner similar doesnt have the stamina(or puts in the effort in training) meaning low workload, great boxing brain tbh, footwork no were near as good as he thinks it is, lacks power will always be the same will struggle against anyone who is a hustler/high workload does well against counter punchers and smaller guys. Khan fantastic hadn speed and good timing, average footwork, terrible head movement, ring IQ and poor chin. Gets sparked with by anyone with power but demolishes anyone that cant punch.
