Just wanted to share and talk about peoples experiences of this miraculous"game" that we all seem to play. I've been playing a lot of nba 2k15 over the last year or so and have gone back to fifa a couple times and swiflty put the game back in the box.
Now i'm not great, I use to be very very good(fifa 11 days) but i'm no scrub. My record atm is 67-9-18.(49-9-9 in the league) on ultimate team, this is consistently facing ronaldo teams etc and with probably 6 or 7 dq losses. MY record should look like this probably 65-9-12.
I just want to talk about why when it is a game(like all games, physical or video, we want our ability to determine the outcome of games)why the game feels the need to put in behind the scenes factors that determine the bounce of the ball, the refereeing decisions and the actions of the A.I in game.
About a week ago I turned the game on, i'm in division 3, have been promoted every year(like I said rarely played it) and was bossing games, knockign the ball about, playing nice football(not a fan of the OTT though ball) and was smashing people left right and centre. Even tough games seemed fairly even and fluid.
Turned the game on yesterday and haven't won a game since, with my friend as a guest and on my own. The oppos players are quicker(tony kroos outpacing remy on a regular basis)I think I scored a couple OG's which came of defenders achilles', My gk(cech) couldnt catch a cold, the players don't make runs and the referee calls up for nothing on his players(actually had me laughing to myself) and my striker got taken out in the box with a slide that nearly decapitated him and nothing was given.
It is frustrating to me because I love football more than any sport, yet I am being restricted to playing other sporting games in the short time that I actually do spend at home.
Reasons behind it must include poorer players(who actually spend real life money on the game)have to feel like they enjoy the game otherwise Ea will lose their main market. That's the only reason I can assume.
And for all the people who say their is no such thing, the game chooses a referee, it chooses crowd animation, weather, it chooses the players movements and runs, it does all these in the background while your playing, you really believe they cannot manifest a background run "sliders" or referee bias?
It's frustrating because I want to come home after work and play 1 or 2 games, enjoy them, win or lose and turn the ps4 off. Instead I play a game of pinball, defenders tumbling over eachother and having a hard time passing the ball like a pro footballer, the ball getting stuck under their feet, players standing around doing nothing and my slide tackles just falling back into the path of the oppositions players.
Sort it out EA. Make a different game mode to UT or something for players who just want to play against eachother without restrictions or bias.

There is definitely scripting/momentum involved in the offline modes. If you're winning with 15/20 minutes left the CPU all of a sudden become 1970 Brazil and almost impossible to cope with. I play on world class difficulty and can be comfortable up until that 70 minute mark then it just gets silly. I have to score 3 per game as the CPU will undoubtedly score 2 in the last 20 minutes.
Not noticed it as much online but it's definitely there. I was getting my ass whooped last night (3-0 down in 17 minutes), steadied the ship til HT, then second half it was as if my opponent had a stroke. Clawed it back to 3-3 with relative ease and should have won it at the death.
Hoping for much better from '16

You're right. I play 14 primarily (before that it was 8) and on manager mode it gets silly sometimes. When I made the transition from professional to world class I was shocked at how much cheaper the game got. They would beat me not on good football, but on what felt like scripted actions. I could tell exactly when the game had decided the opposition was going to score at the start of their move and there was nothing you could apparently do about it.
Having said that, I don't find this anymore. Whether it's because I'm getting better or because my Porto side is ridiculous (89, 87, 91, 89, 88, 87, 89, 90, 90, 89, 89 and a bench that's as strong) is another matter. I'm spanking teams 4-0 on average (38 goals in 10 games this season) and I'm now looking up at legendary as being the next step as often the other team doesn't register a shot.
I think the game gets cheaper as it gets harder, but it's still beatable. It's not that they're good at football and that's why they beat you.

Strong stats, what is your line up to have players like that for Porto?
Shame you're in the Portuguese league with a side that good!

I'll give you my squad (not including yoof players not yet worth anything):
GK: Anthony Lopes (89), Courtois (87)
RB: Di Sciglio (87), Danilo (83)
CB: Inigo Martinez (91), Doria (89), Varane (88), Marquinhos (87), Schar (85)
LB: Alaba (88), Alex Sandro (86)
CDM: Pogba (89), M'Vila (87), William Carvalho (85), Verratti (84), Meireles (Y 83)
CAM: Götze (90), Asenjo (Y 88)
LM: Griezmann (89), Quintero (86), Couto (84)
RM: Lucas (90), Oxlade-Chamberlain (86)
ST: Neymar (89), Batshuayi (88)
A few notes. Batshuayi is practically a broken player in terms of how good he is. Classic XI players aren't as good as him.
I also plan to buy Jorginho (91) and Ferri (Y 90 (CB)) in the next window. I had Jorginho before but traded him for Pogba. I reckon Verratti and cash will do it.

I also don't spend much money. Nearly every window I'm in net profit. Neymar, for example, cost £4m (straight swap Jackson Martinez for Cavani. A year later I swapped Cavani and £4m for Neymar). Götze was a pre contract, Lucas was free. Mangala bought Inigo Martinez. Fernando for Carvalho. Quaresma for Pizzi for Salah for Chamberlain.
I'm good in the market.

Impressive stuff Giroulski.
I just cant get myself interested in the manager mode on Fifa, the transfer system and whole feel of the game doesn't seem right.
Not a patch on the Master League on the old PES games.

so basically, you lost a few games online and wrote a long article sulking about it?

I've played quite a bit of PES this season and it's a pretty poor game IMO.
Some of the physics are nice, and it does feel smooth in possession, there's still a varied array of goals to score.
The problem for me is that I've always played it for the Master League, so I'm playing against the AI all the time.
When through on goal, if you bring your kepper out the attacking players ALWAYS manges to chip/lob him, it's a difficult skill but every AI player manages to pull it off.
I've conceded a goal where Lee Cattermole pops up on the left wing and gets the ball played into his feet, he turn and sprints away from Rafael, Smalling and Hererra before curling an inch perfect pass with his left foot into the box.
The stamina gauge runs out after 55-60 minutes meaning 6-7 of your players (usually forwards) are knackered.
Also, players retire at 29-30 on ML and are "re-spawned" as 16 year olds, and there's the problem of winning the ball but conceding a penalty, this happens A LOT, not to the AI though.
I don't think the people who make it are actually football fans, because some of the features are just bizarre.
And breath....
