Looks like he's off to Chelsea.
I can't understand why quality goalkeepers decide to go to clubs where they will get hardly no game time. Courtois will rightly be their number one and Begovic will probably only get cup games.
I know money talks but seems a waste of talent to me.
It's a similar situation to Vorm at Spurs. Went from number one at Swansea to Spurs bench.
I can sort of understand why Valdes did it as he has achieved everything in the game and was probably looking for one last big pay packet.
I'd take Begovic at United to replace De Gea although wouldn't be my first choice. I think he should stay at Stoke rather than rot on Chelsea's bench before he even turns 30.
Begovic

When I heard this, thought it was a joke. Why would a top goalkeeper like Begovic settle to be a Number 2 at a club?
He could in my opinion be a Number 1 for any of the top 4-5 clubs.

I said it earlier some for some reason don't actually mind being understudy, he was even at Stoke for a while.
Cudicini, Toldo and Reina are examples of keepers who were happy with that role, if Begovic is another one of them then I ain't going to complain.

City and Chelsea are sorted for No1s for a long while
Cech will be arsenal's until Begovic is in his 30s
United is the only realistic option and Lloris seems to be the favourite (I'd prefer Begovic to Lloris but anyway)
If United weren't sniffing around, this is Begovic's best option IMO

TKT, what about Lloris's spot at Spurs? Top 6 is still a step up from where he is

for half the money and no medals? don't see the point personally.
this is his only realistic chance at playing CL football for an English side, possibly winning medals, and the pay can't hurt.
careers are short, take it when you can get it.

London vs Stoke. Get paid a hell of a lot to do not very much and if not for United's imminent resurgence he may well also have had a shot at some silverware to boot.
Makes sense to me

-He'd be living in London as opposed to Stoke (no offence Stoke)
-Higher wages (probably significantly higher)
-A chance of winning silverware ( especially as he would more than likely be our domestic Cups keeper)
-Getting to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world under one of the best managers.
-Possibility of playing in some Champions League games.
There are a lot of very good reasons for Begovic to come to Chelsea. Obviously he won't play as much as at Stoke but he'll still play at least about 15 games per season, maybe significantly more depending on injuries/form of Courtois.

Damned good keep to have in reserve....
slightly odd decision on his part i'd say though...despite the reasons given for him coming above..
