Following Leeds United for so many years has made me very cynical, I am pleased to see us signing a player other clubs were also chasing. I just hope it doesn't end up being funded by the sale of one of our young uns.

I would rather get other players in on the money we'd pay Barton

Wood is a good signing

I'd make Barton our highest paid player regardless of what the number is & make him club captain.

And then I'd watch us win the league.

I agree with Jud ............ i'd make him captain and watch him warm to the fans, and vice versa. He's the potential of being another galvanising influence like Strachan in my view.

All logic, given his history, says we should avoid him. But footballing logic and assessing his character, I suspect he'd love it at Leeds and the potential legacy he could generate and leave - I think that would really appeal to him ....................

As long as he didn't start putting cigars out in Cooks eyes and smashing people up on nights out round Leeds like in his much younger days I think we'd be ok.

Leeds fans like a grafter, a player who NEVER hides and fights for the team...literally...Barton will give whoever he joins that.

Tell him he'd have an executive suite named after him in 20 years...if that doesn't get him to sign I dunno what will.

Someone mentioned a fee or £1m but I believe it's closer to 2 with add ons making it 3. We out priced wolves when we went up to 3.
