Why are people saying Schneiderlin would be back up to Coquelin?
So much stupidity. People are praising Coquelin like he's the second coming of Makelele FFS.
He played half a season for Arsenal (Which he was good) but he needs to do it consistently year in, year out. Look at Aaron Ramsey. Had a decent half season 2013/2014 but was bang average 2014/2015.
We still need a CDM so stop all this BS about Coquelin being the answer because he's not. Schneiderlin was the perfect fit for Arsenal.
Embarrassing Arsenal Fans

I don't think anybody thinks United have signed poor players at all but the relevance of these signings will be seen on the pitch.
Damian & Bastion will have to be incredibly brilliant to adjust from the Italian & German leagues to English football. It isn't that easy. The last 2 High profile signings from bundesliga have flopped badly (Kagawa, Sahin). Even Mertesacker has had his struggles.
Then other than Van nistelrooy & Suarez there is a long list of flops from eredivisie. So Depay has a lot to prove.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Carrick & Felliani & young play a lot of games next season.

Guardiola?
You sound like the fans that said "there's a reason Madrid/Barca let Ozil/Alexis go".

Well...different type of stories about the players but yeah I know.
Regarding Schweinsteiger....It's his last chance for a big deal. His contract with Bayern ended 2016. Bayern wouldnt give him the same contract again. Everyone in Germany knows that he is not the same player anymore due to injuries and yes his age. At the moment he is not concentrated on Football a critic at him that came through over and over in the German media. Bayern did a very good business to let him go for that amount of money. Don't forget his massive wage.

You know, the fact a team has had poor transfer windows in the past doesn't necessarily mean the same thing would be repeated everytime. It's bemusing the number of people that dismiss United's signings because they've bought poorly before. Reminds me of my arguments with Liverpool and Spurs fans last season with their deluded superiority complex over Man U, before their bum holes were torn wide open when they met United. Anyone who saw them in the 2nd half of last season would know they made huge strides forward, from the team that parked the bus at the Emirates and repeatedly bailed out by De Gea in several games, to a team that dominated every single match I watched them play in the 2nd half of the season.
I know little about Depay and I haven't watched Darmian other than for Italy, but I am dead certain Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin will improve their team. Just as I was certain Herrera (who many people here were calling a "workhorse"would improve their midfield last season - which he did.

Ever the united fan.
No one is saying the signings are doomed to fail. It the idea that they automatically improve them that I'm not too sure of.
Example, when we bought Giroud and Podolski who here thought for a second that Giroud would boss CF while Podolski struggle for a place on the bench?
Some players come with huge reputations, some not so much. That isn't the issue here.
Are they buying the players they need? That's the question. Is LVG forcing his selection hand by buying 1 huge name and another record signing (for his position)?
Look how long it took for Di Maria/Falcao to finally get benched. Sometimes buying big name players for the sake of name only (Schweinsteiger surely) makes a manager throw games in an effort to justify them.
I mean they should get better now they've garnered some stability. I just believe it will have much to do with Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger.
I have been wrong before

I think this might be a deal from which all parties end up being better off.
Bastian gets his last fat contract and assurances of first team football.
Bayern get him off the books, which, from what you have posted, is what they have been itching to do.
United get a player they can still squeeze a couple (or even more) seasons of top drawer performances in midfield. *It is of course time-limited (which is reflected in the price) and conditional upon them keeping Bastian fit, but it is a risk that can bring significant rewards, as he is still a top class central midfielder.

I think too much is made of the supposed difficulty foreign players have in adjusting to the Premiership.
We've seen countless examples of players failing to make an impact after moving from one PL club to another - perhaps because the system didn't suit them, they were played out of position, they got injured, they didn't get enough game-time etc - yet any time a foreign player fails to make the grade, it's automatically assumed that they just don't suit the Premiership.
I'm not trying to totally discount the effect relocating to another country can have, but for the most part, I feel that if a player suits the system the manager is trying to develop, they will most likely do well.
Schweinsteiger and Depay both seem perfect fits for the possession-based 433 system that worked so successfully for United at the end of last season, and I can't see how an Italian international RB can't be at least as effective as a complete makeshift full-back in Valencia. And let's not forget that Schneiderlin is widely considered one of the best ball-winning midfielders in the Premiership.
If they get a good back-up striker and a top-class defender (as all the reports suggest they will), then I think they have a very good chance of winning the title next season.

Don't think that Bayern was happy with his performances when he played. And there is no doubt that he is heavily criticised for the performances in our national team as well.

On the flip side of that, £15m is basically peanuts to United at the moment. Even if we only got one decent year out of him, don't think we'd feel too bad.
Definitely think the assessment of 'all parties happy' is a correct one. We've been linked with him for years, so excited to see what he can do in the PL

MS is long term replacement for Arteta. Coquelin has shown that he deserves his place in XI, but we definitely need a back up
