Top four..how difficult?

Putting rivalries aside the signings of sterling, schweinsteiger, schneiderlin etc make hitting the top 4 difficult. Utd, city will probably go on snapping up players on £200K pw and spking £50, £60, £70 on players left right and centre. Even though I think our signings are good, we need more and more top quality, playrrs like reus and even benteke (not a big fan but he does have a 1 in 2 scoring ratio in the prem) would be great.

The point is we need top quality to compete, it seems this coming season may well be supplemented with top players arriving, already mentioned utd and city's signings but also firmino for us and its possible pogba could arrive for city, the premier league seem to be getting better quality in and its great to see these top players, but for us we have to spend the £50M from sterling right, id rather have a reus or benteke than another balotelli. Lets hope we get the RIGHT players this time, if we do I believe wd can put up a strong fight for 4th, but it really does depend on the next couple of signings....they must be top quality.

If he has to change his name to fit in with current affairs at the club shouldn't you have to change yours to Got_Worse?

Your not actually receiving 49 Mill GB.
The fee is 44m plus add ons. So minus the 20% you actualyy get around 39 Mill with possible addons later. A great deal, but you don't have the 49 in your account immediately.

There is always a chance that United's players may not gel for whatever reason, in which case they are the easiest targets to displace (and for Liverpool the most satisfying)

There is also a chance that Arsenal as ever continue to perennially disappoint. Sanchez bailed them out so many times last year - teams got fairly savvy with him after January though, and although the results kept coming Arsenal never really looked all that convincing in my opinion.

City and Chelsea I feel will have too much about them.

HOWEVER personally I don't see anyone else breaking into the top four. United over a weekend have addressed 7 years of underinvestment in midfield and have brought in speed in all three positions (sorely lacking last season), flair and a take on the world attitude in Depay, Leaders, Serial Winners and personally in Schneiderlin one of the best in his role. He has dominated against all the top British clubs in a Southampton midfield and I feel is the key signing that in my view should liberate united. Also I do not think the spree is over. With the necessity transfers out the way to restore balance (lets not forget United last season were largely full of square pegs in round holes for much of the season). They will chase a marquee name or two up to deadline day I'm sure and with that and regular games including Europe I envisage (and hope) this season is a different story.

Spurs and Pool will have their work cut out. I feel players will need to be brining their A game almost every game to be able to put pressure on the top 4 spot. Even then it may not be quite good enough. In terms of Spurs, Pochettino is a good manager, but he needs his chairman to continue to strengthen the squad and bring in the right players. They still need investment in a quality forward. Very lucky to have had Kane last season coz the other 2 just weren't up to scratch!

And as for Liverpool, its a decent transfer window so far- nothing more. End of season they were looking at Gerrard leaving, Skrtel throwing some contract tantrum, Sterling's saga and Sturrdige selfies which were difficult to interpret whether he was making progress in terms of recovery of not. From that position a haul of Ings, Bogdan, Milner, Clyne and Firminio sound pretty good. But as a rival fan looking in, you'd probably accept that. Not saying their transfer business is done but perhaps even with a battering ram like Benteke I'd still fancy the current top 4 to remain as it was.

As much as rivals mock us, we are still one of only two clubs in the prem with global fan base, European pedigree and numerous titles. Everyone knows who liverpool are hate us or not. Reus may just look at it and think yeah, I can play with coutinho and firmino (knows him from the bundesleague) in the prem at Anfield.

Very imo.
We should be 5th/6th as that's where our wage budget puts us.
