With Villas takeover deal now dead in the water do you think we could get Benteke cheaper than his release clause?
I think we should make a final offer take it or leave it 25m
I know if we really want him then we should pay the buy out clause,
I just think hes just not quite worth pushing the boat out for and would ideally look at 20m + Lambert as we know they were interested last window.
Learner is tight and will not want his main assets value to start plummeting
Thoughts?
Wums please stay on topic and be original or you will be deleted. You have been warned!

relegation fodder that beat you twice last season, one of them being in a F.A cup semi final. Get real you clown, either match the release clause or stop trying to tap up the player via the media and putting in low bids.

Still relegation fodder though

Sounds like Benteke on the way to a big club, not the mickey mousers 😊

Having got rid of some of the really big earners Given and Bent for starters maybe with tv money now Randy sees it as viable again?
Things not dire at the moment
I guess if RL has decided to stay on
He may re-invest to a degree?
The good thing is that Villa are not desperate I believe, and therefore we make our own decisions
If the buy out clause is met Benteke goes otherwise subject to wobblers we have a top quality strilker that others want
If the worst happens we can use the money to rebuild
People have to get real although the money is stupid if Gas Boy is worth 49m then Benteke is worth what we are asking

Fair enough
I thought Learner was bleeding you guys dry, but i guess you guys know best. He's a good striker but i hope we dont pay 32.5 and go for Llorente instead

We've just appointed a Director of Sport. The club is being strengthened all round. I assumed we'd virtually been sold and this was due to influence of the prospective owner, but apparently not.
Looks like Lerner is getting stuck in again. The management is being strengthened (it needed to be), first Tom Fox now the new DoS, plus the Head Scout Fox brought in. There is a lot of forward thought and planning going on, and we're after some quality players. At last
So we don't need the Benteke money; he's more valuable to us than £32.5m because he'll pay that off in goals. If somebody bids that figure and he wants to go, then we've no choice. But we're serious about sticking to that figure, and no, we won't be taking Lambert at a notional £12.5m.
My guess is that he'll go and it'll be to MU, at £32.5m. Even if Liverpool bid that amount he may not go; his reason for going is that he wants Champions League football and you can't offer that.
As for us, if he goes we'll increase our efforts to get more signings, but it won't necessarily be a Benteke type player. It's time we had more options in the way we play and I think Sherwood realises that.

I'm not trying to troll Liverpool fans, but I just don't think he'll get Champions League football with you guys. I don't think many neutrals can see the top 4 changing much from last season. The teams above you have strengthened so much already.
Benteke wants CL football and therefore will go to United, I think, if and when they meet the release clause.

My villa mate said this. Doesn't see Liverpool as much of a step up. We all know he'd probably prefer utd over us that's pretty clear. But why stay at villa. Sorry but your gash

Therefore, if I was Benteke I'd be thinking about moving to a guaranteed CL team

If Im honest, we're more interested in what Benteke wants to do, than what you would do in his shoes.
Sorry about that, but what you would do is unlikely to have any impact on LFC.
