Only Aguero better than Benteke?

Interesting stat from opta. Of the players currently playing in prem league only Aguero has scored more goals than Benteke (since Bentekes debut)

Aguero - 55
Benteke - 42
Giroud - 41
Lukaku - 41
Rooney - 41

Lets see how he can do with a more creative side

Okay using same logic...aguero stat is meaningless!!

Depends how many goals you are scoring elsewhere and how many you are conceding really.

There is no rule that says you need a single prolific scorer to successful.

Costa did well for Chelsea but second half of the season they were reliant on goals from others as he was largely injured/out of form.

If for arguments sake Benteke got 18, but Coutinho, Firmino, Henderson, Sturridge and Ings all for double figures as well in all comps, then we would probably have a decent season unless our defence was terrible.

Giroud is a 1 in 2 striker. At 12m he's been a good signing but every top club needs better than a 1 in 2 striker.

I suppose Liverpool still have Sturridge so Benteke isn't a bad 2nd choice

-------
Giroud was a 1 in 2 striker when Arsenal bought him for £12m?

Or did he become a 1 in 2 striker at Arsenal.

There's a difference.

Just checked, Giroud was a 1 in 2 striker when Arsenal bought him for £12m

He remains a 1 in 2 striker despite playing for a better team (ok 2.3 for accuracy sake) so he's a decent forward.

Benteke has remained consistently as a 1 in 2 striker (1.9 and 2.0 for accuracy sake) in a poor villa team.

I don't think Giroud could be sold for much under £25m at the moment so Benteke being 4 years younger has a higher ceiling.

£32m was more than what Liverpool wanted to pay, but had to pay it. Will be worth it.

Giroud was better than 1 in 2 in France the season before wasn't he?

Good signing for Arsenal just misses some sitters ocassionally.

Prices have gone up as well.

If they were buying Giroud this summer he would be more like £20m.

Its posts like this that give the RS a bad name - you dont instantly become a much better player because you sign for Liverpool - get a grip

20m for giroud

I'd happily sell him for half of that. He's the worst main striker we've had since 1987. Alan Smith, Ian Wright, Anelka, Henry, RVP and now Giroud ffs

who made any assertion that he will automatically become a better player?

You generally expect a striker to score more goals in a team that should create more chances for him. Though I doubt the type of chances will be high long balls or crosses at Liverpool so something will have to adapt be it benteke or everyone and thing else.

I am not been a wum here I promise but currently the Liverpool team confuses me because I can't see a style of play they are set up for with regards to players brought in! You have some creative flair, some pace, some hard hitting players and a couple of speedsters but often a team favours a certain type but with Liverpool I just don't get it.

I may be proved wrong (and hope I am because I have a strong pool contingency in the FF team) but I can't see big in roads been made and question the current transfer policy
