Straws in the wind

Well, not a lot to go on yet, but I was studying the results today with interest, to see if they can tell me anything (answer = no, but it won't stop me pretending they can)

Burnley drew 2-2 at home to Birmingham. They came from behind twice but stats suggest they had a lot of the game.

Now Birmingham themselves did well in their first game, possibly slightly fortunate to win, but they did. (They also won away at Bristol Rovers in the cup midweek).

So that sort of suggests Burnley are not too bad - as one who said we should not write them up as worldbeaters when we drew with them at home, thought I'd say the (sketchy) evidence suggests they are just that - not too bad.

Burnleys stats today:
Possession 59% 41%
Shots 19 13
On target 7 4
Corners 8 5
Fouls 11 11

Oh, and in the "Its a Small World" section, the team Birmingham beat slightly luckily last week - was Reading .......................

This is all tosh of course, but it passes the time. We'll have a better idea 10 games in, how our results are stacking up.

2 more things, Bristol City had a player sent off today, and Westwood went of injured for Wendies

2 small positives from todays games for us, were back at home in 16th though, Rosler, you doing well or was it 15th that was good?

Agree 20, 10 games and we'll have a better idea.

Well let's hope we don't get mullered tomorrow 'cos that wouldn't reflect too well on Rosler, or more importantly, on us.

The stat for possession is funny, it is calculated on passes alone, not on territory or meaningful incisive play. I am not sure it is worth taking much interest in.

Well, football is a possession game, with the ball you can score goals and they cannot. Territory is not that meaningful.
