Exactly. Every transfer poses a risk. Who'd have thought a year ago that Di Maria would already be gone? Not many.

However.....when you've not got a single attacker on form at the club and have sold most of them off.......maybe a 19yr old who isn't anywhere near the finished article is a HUGE gamble to take.

I literally know nothing about this kid and wish him all the best and hope that he does become the best French striker of all time......however it's incredible pressure on his shoulders to boost our attack and add goals.

Which is why I remain hopeful another striker will be brought in today to ease the burden and maybe give Wayne that kick up the arris he so badly needs.

The meltdown from some was actually pretty funny. Nohlman was up to his usual tricks again too.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least a small level of panic from us, there always is this time of year, especially when so much business is being done.

I don't think so to be honest. The panic resides with us looking from the outside in. I'm sure behind the scenes, work is being done and those involved are keeping calm and relaxed while trying to get one or two deals over the line.

I'm sure we have a big list of players we want or are interested in. We go through the usual channels of seeing whether these players are available while at the same time agents such as Mendez will be talking to Woodward about deals he can do for the club that we will take into consideration. The sooner you get to deadline the more nervous you will likely get, it's completely natural. Add in the stupid amounts of money we have at our disposal and I wouldn't at all be surprised if there is some level of panic, either in the fees we want to pay or the players we choose to bid for.

I do get your point, and also not forgetting wage packages to boot. I can imagine there is still quite a potential sum of money burning a hole in Ed's pocket right now.

I think the de Gea fiasco shows the level of stupidity that exists at the top level when it comes to transfers.

I think we all agree another striker is needed, while the clock ticks closer to deadline Ed will be getting increasingly nervous. Some want Berahino and I'd be fairly happy but the fact Spurs have made 2 bids would indicate that this potential transfer is by no means in our hands.
