Very unlikely #AFC will make any signings today. Explored options but nothing was close & almost certainly no ins or outs now #DeadlineDay
Let the meltdown start

Your probably right (Cavani). My point is that there aren’t many elite CF’s around. None that AFC could spend in the realms of £100m (fee/wages) on anyway.
United a prime example. Spending close to £40m on an uncapped French teenager.

I can understand that we were unable to bring in a top class CF as they are hard to come by. But you'd think we could get in a good DM. Doing that it would allow us to play our more attacking players at the same time, while having coq and an other DM to protect the back 4. It would also stop us getting dominated in midfield so much. Would go a long way in solving some of our problems

Yay more negligence, expect Coq to be played into the red zone now.

I agree with you Pearce that on the CF front there is surely a lack of players that are available.
In general and here I agree with what Renoog said we are not active when it comes to transfers in general. We wait if something happen at other clubs. I criticise that long time ago, not only in this transfer window.
That is simple the wrong approach assuming Wenger knows that we have to strengthen in some positions if we want to compete on all fronts.
One thing is for sure and that is my biggest regret. We should have bought a strong DM in not to replace Coquelin but to compete with him. That's the minimal expectation I have knowing as I said that on the striker front the market is difficult.

It's exactly the reason Wenger wouldn't last at a club like Madrid or Barca.
Completely out of touch with how the game works these days.
We just needed 2 more top players and it could have made the difference but once again he has left us short
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By current market standards "2 more top players" would cost you 180 million including their 1st year wage.
Listen. There's more money than quality. You watched us play Wolfsburg. Did you see any player in the opposition worth 55Million?
When quality players are available, we'll buy them. But only if we actually have money AND squad space.
So put some cold cream on that transfer itch, and realize you actually have a good team with good players that are difficult to improve on.
We moaned when they bought fabregas...remember?
Some moaned when they bought Bony...remember?
It isn't the early 2000s again. An 18 year old uploads a video of him doing a rabona and he'll have gotten a call by the end of the day.
The management is banking on the trigger happiness of other clubs to find underrated quality.
Big spending sides like Real, Barca, Bayern and PSG all buy more players like it's an addiction. We sniff around trying to poach players on their books affected by these implusive transfers.
It worked with Vieira, Henry and Kanu then when the big spenders were all italian clubs. It didn't work this season because this window was quiet by their standards.
Move on. We were really good for a long period last season.
Otamendi is the only major transfer that undoubtedly improves the side he moves to (I never rated Pedro, and now he's 29 post serious injury).
The other player is Cech...and WE got him.
So quit you me-too whining and let's take this league like we know we can.

Personally I would (like 99% of us) have preferred AW to bring in a player to compete with Coq, and a CF.
However I (assuming no business is done) can appreciate why nobody has been brought in.
AW is not going to install Arteta as club captain, and then omit him from the first team squad. He will provide back up, and I can’t see either Flamini or him starting more than a dozen games this season. AW has demostrated he will play Ramsey/JW deeper (instead of Coq) in games which he wants more offensive penetration (less defensive cover).
What is clear is that we simply are not scoring enough goals at the moment, and bringing in a player (at this late stage) was never going to immediately address this.

There are a lack of World Class CF IMO however we should have strenthed the DM department as there were plenty of players availalble. Kondogbia, Morgan Schnerline hell even Wanyama would have been an excellent buy.

You do realize that would have taken us to 4 DMs in our first team right?

I hope you pulling my leg lol.
For example sign 1 of Kondogbia, Morgan, Wanyama get rid of Flamini and maybe even Arteta (Not like he will play many games anyway) and that leaves us with 2 DM of real quality.

And that's why we win so many trophies and they don't?
