You'll be fine. Everyone else is trying to self destruct to help you out.

When you look at how Manchester City have done their business compared to their rivals it just goes to reinforce the difference this season.

Any right thinking Arsenal fan already knew this!
We give Arsene the benefit of the doubt, but there will be no excuses if he fails.
And success is defined as: properly challenging for the EPL and the champions league.

With our current team, at best we will finish second and that is if we do not have an injury record like last season.

Baffled that the only striker or defensively midfielder we have signed since summer 2013 is Danny Welbeck when those have been our problem positions since RVP left.

I reckon Wenger will recall Sanogo with the hope that he will be our saviour like le coq was last season

Our window shut after we signed Cech

Called this months ago but deluded fans were convinced we would do something.

Transfer window has always been wengers Achilles heel.

Competing for top 4 once again.

Really want him gone after this season

Although United are paying close to £40m for a player with as many senior caps as Sanogo (none) and less U21 goals…

What are we doing with all the extra cash we have then? May as well donate it to charity

Hopefully using it to acquire world class talent, should anything become available in the future.

Buying player != strengthening except you improve on the players you already have.

Buying for buying sake only slows down decision making in the next window.

We are a very good team, and have shown for long periods in the last 2 seasons that in form we can mix it with the best teams in the league.

We've beaten every one of the other top 6 sides in the last year (City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool), and have Wilshere, Welbeck and a fully fit Arteta to come back.

I'm sorry I not distraught for missing out on Martial, KDB (55Million? really?), Baba Rahman, 29yo Martinez, Sterling, Schweinstieger, Depay or any other of the bang average dross that have moved this window.

Best players to move this window mostly moved on loan (Dzeko et al).

Say what you want but any player remotely worth a snuff has already made their big money move. Now when they are surplus to a sugar daddy club's requirements they move to rubbish teams on loan because of contractual obligations.

Dzeko could've improved us, instead he was replace by lower quality because he had a blip in form. Same with Jovetic, Nasri, Mata, Cuadrado, and all those other quality players who in a bygone era would have gone to clubs who understood the value of money and weren't taking punts on good but unsuitable players.

It's wasteful. Good players are a finite resource, and seeing so many of them on loan at shoddy teams just to keep them away from the competition has really weakened the prem.

Martial for EUR80 Million. KDB forGBP55 Million. Sterling for GBP50 million.

It really get's boring after a while.

I can't pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes but it does seem like the club has a very passive approach to transfers, waiting til players become 'available' (i.e. offered at knock-down prices) rather than actively identifying targets and paying good money to prise them away.

I know throwing money around is no guarantee of success, but there's a good correlation between money spent and on-pitch performance. And with 4 or 5 of our competitors consistently spending big every summer in the PL, chances are at least 1 or 2 of them will actually overtake us as a result. Which means we're never giving ourselves a fighting chance of competing.

The board/Wenger must learn to take some risks in the transfer market if they're to have serious ambitions of being a genuine European heavyweight.

As long as we're better than Liverpool, we should be able to get that magic 4th place.

I guess you being sarcastic.

We can't acquire decent player in names of Cavani and Rabiot let alone acquiring world class talent...we are fekkkin useless when it comes to buying players.

If we don't challenge for the title and if we finish anywhere more than 3-4 point below title winner, AW must go. Not sure whether we can win anything apart from FA or Capital one cup tbh.

Sterling though over-priced will improve City and i will have him over Walcott any day!

Barca, Real, Bayern, chelsea are so strong when it comes to transfer ..it's very rare to sign world class players/ young talent under their noses.

@ Vivano's Debut

I know where you coming from, but what's an excuse for not buying Benzema or Cavani when there was ample time left ! ?

I am not asking AW to splash cash like Utd done on unknown teenager however why out club can't identify potential targets well before deadline day? any justification? thoughts?

By not buying an outfield player this summer is Wenger really saying he couldn't find a single player that would have improved the squad? If this is the case then he needs to leave and let someone come in who can and will show more ambition.

4th place trophy is all we're playing for this year guys!

posted on 1/9/15

We do have a good team. But we have stood still again and still not properly improved our squad, while others especially city have added quality. If you're serious about winning the title, you have to add quality players, just to keep up with your rivals at least.

Cech was a great signing. But he certainly won't be enough alone to win the league.

posted on 1/9/15

So this season it's gonna be same old same old. 4th place, knocked out of the CL in the last 16, but win the FA cup to keep Wenger employed and to fool people into thinking he's still doing a good job.

posted on 1/9/15

Dunno I think most people now will be very frustrated if we don't at least properly challenge for the league, and got a bit further in champions league. Even if we win the fa cup again. While wining the fa cup 3 times running would be great, if we did that and finished 3rd/4th then that would mark no progress whatsoever. It's unacceptable now considering the money we have available.

Whyalwaysme

Players of the caliber we need (ie a top CF) play for the best clubs, some with practically infinite resources.

Arsenal tried to sign Benzema but he chose to remain at Madrid. A bigger and better club. We could have thrown £80m at PSG for Cavani and they still may not have been interested. What use is £80m to PSG – a state subsidised club?

While it is frustrating we have not been able to sign a CF, I cannot see the point of paying double or treble market value, for a CF that is not going to score 20+ goals a season.

Money doesn't matter when our team is perfect. Or so Wenger thinks.
