Lloyd Dyer

Rumours circulating about Lloyd Dyer.

I hope not.

33 years old next week and not done anything in last few years.

He'd be a great signing for Leeds United

You think Eric?

Not for me. Not done anything in last 2 years. What pace he had has probably dried up.

Would sooner see Byram stay and worked with to try and find his form again.

I know many believe he is a RB only but I think he does have what it takes further up field. Can't see him leaving today so need to try and find his best again.

I do yes.

And I think after he's been here a couple of weeks and playing you'll see why..!

(That's if he comes and he can get in the team)

I see him as an old head, probably as a sub, to steady the youngsters late on in games. He can keep a ball. And he's got a reasonable scoring record, not brilliant but not bad

Time will tell, but I think he's a good steady pro. He's also an intelligent footballer.

I must be the only one on here that thinks Byram is actually playing really well in general. The whoile midfield works for each other, covers back, puts in 100% effort, and is actually trying to get up and support the front guys quickly. I have no complaints about Byram.

What Dyer may bring is that old head knowledge rather than speed. Someone who can kill the ball dead and make space in one shimmy and shoulder drop, and play a fantastic ball through the gap right onto the feet/head of the moving forward player. We've really missed that since, I dont know, Strachan?, but I don't know if that is what Dyer can bring. If he can, snap him up and make him a two or three season legend. If not, forget him.

Can't see anything else happening

This obsession with youth makes me puke. Who was who got us out of the old 2nd division and then went on to win the League? It wasn't primarily the young 'uns, it was the older players, who brought stability and experience to the table. Strachan, McAllister & Co took the younger players under their wing and became role models. So I don't care how old Lloyd Dyer is - it's whether he has anything to offer as a player that counts.

Ah Lora, but is Dyer the same caliber as Strachan, Macca, etc?

JLA .... it's the principle that Lora alludes to rather than Dyer himself I suspect.

I agree with him to be honest - I'm all for youth but I believe you also need a balance of experience. Have we got that? I'm not so sure and it could yet prove to be an Achilles heel for us. Bamba is the experience on the pitch ........ not much else though.
