Firstly, well done to England on qualifying, you've been professional in how you've gone about your business.
I'll put this bluntly, Rooney is not one of England's greatest players and it's appalling because this record is going to put him into that category- well it will give people that perception.
The facts are he has scored 6 goals in International tournaments and he has played in five of them. Is that really a great record considering he's playing for England who are usually one of the top sides in Europe and in the World?
Simply banging in goals against qualification minnows and in International friendlies should not gloss over history for future generations as to how good Rooney has been for England.
This is becoming a problem with International football in general- the standard of opposition the top teams have to face nowadays is at its weakest in years because of the ridiculously easy nature of the qualifiers. For the Euros, it's almost impossible to fail.
All this will do is see people get more fed up with International football as it just becomes more of a hindrance to the Premier League and the top leagues in Europe. Qualifiers are now viewed as an interruption and not as football matches to look forward to.
Unless they radically overhaul International football the fans boredom of qualifiers will be exploited by the richest leagues in football to further diminish international football's status.
Rooney's record and International Football?

Shocking the state Van Gaal left Holland in.

If LVG was still the manager he would have used Van Dijk in the Fellaini role like against Club Brugge. Watched most of the last 25 minutes of that game and Netherlands seemed clueless. Aimless balls into bo, stupid ball losses.

No Robben and Kuyt and the Dutch are rubbish

Back to the main topic, I don't really see the point of the Euros as they currently stand, with so many teams going through to the 'finals'.
I'd rather have a several-tier league system playing out over a couple of years, with promotion and relegation and, if you like, a final tournament for the top 4 or 8 in the top flight.

Having said that Netherlands stats look so similar to Man Utd when we draw or lose regularly in games we dominate. The games they thoroughly dominated in the past will haunt them I think.
