Leicester v Norwich Match Thread

Well well well....a few surprises in Ranieris starting line up with Simpson and Fuchs coming in and Mahrez and RDL being dropped to the bench.

Line up;

Schmeichel
Simpson
Morgan
Huth
Fuchs
Schlupp
Drinkwater
Kante
Okazaki
Vardy
Albrighton

Subs;

Inler
Ulloa
Mahrez
Benalouane
King
Schwarzer
De Laet

Looks like a 4-4-1-1 line up with with a more solid back 4 with Fuchs and Simpson acting as defensive full backs. Okazaki will sit in the no.10 role behind Vardy so its not quite a 4-4-2 and Schlupp likely moves to the wing where I personally think he can be more effective.

Although its not quite as attack minded, conceding 5 goals last week and 14 for the season will be giving Ranieri nightmares and Norwich have been doing very well so far.

Eyebrows will be raised that Mahrez has been left out.

I'll be out and about this afternoon so unable to watch - please post those who are listening on the radio or watching the stream. Or even at the match.......if you can get signal!

Kasper bottled it no surprise though

What did you think to Benalouane, a CB, being put on ahead of RDL when Simpson was injured Nev? Worrying sign for RDL perhaps....

I think that we were much more stable defensively with Fuchs and Simpson in.

We dealt with a lot of pressure in that game well.

Who says possession wins football matches. It clearly does not.

Goals win games. We're still doing a pretty good job of scoring them.

Agreed Mersey. All those crying out for 3-5-2 can calm down now, it's perfectly possible to be defensively more solid and carry an attacking threat with 4 at the back.

And we didn't even need Mahrez to do it.

Sounded a lot more solid with Simpson and Fuchs. Come to think of it it wasn't long after Simpson went off we conceded.

Great win, obviously and not too bothered about not keeping a clean sheet, but it is a bit of a concern that we conceded as soon as Norwich had, probably their first sustained assault on our goal. A result like last week won't be a one off but I'll take that if we have one like this more often.

What was Kasper doing for their goal

^ Sky reported that Cameron Jerome blasted a shot just over the bar early into the game and prior to Norwich's goal.

...that was a response to TOTF mentioning Norwich's first assault on goal. They do exaggerate a little on TV.

I'll say it again.... Possession IS over rated. Norwich had 66% possession and...wait for it. 2 yes 2 shots on target.
We had 34% and 5 shots on target.
Great to be a Leicester fa right now, another win on the board. Sweet
