With both being approached by LFC board, it may as well be discussed to the nth degree. It is unfortunate that it's been disclosed that we have approached the representatives of both - this in my view is a mistake as either (but especially Ancelotti) could take the impression we aren't giving them enough respect.
Both are an upgrade on Rodgers - so I hope one of them gets the nod and accepts the job - without restriction on the team they want to bring in.
It is my opinion, and all this is only my opinion; that Klopp would have a more immediate effect on the team and squad. Ancelotti is more methodical and considered - as per his footballing education with Arrigo Sacchi.
Klopp has a lot to prove, and he wants to prove himself but can he? Ancelotti has huge amounts of experience, but I have to ask - after Real Madrid (his last job) could he be bothered to push himself? Ancelotti has been there and done it and also proved himself in England.
Ancelotti is tactically excellent, can organise a defence. Can he work within a budget? This maybe FSG's fundamental question. Klopp can.
Looking at the macro environment. Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City will be looking at a new manager in the coming two years. As of now and including Liverpool there are 5 managers needed.
The names in the frame will be :
Ancelotti
Klopp
Guardiola.
This is an appointment we have to get right, and if it was upto me I would get Ancelotti.
I would let him have carte blanche to appoint his own team, and give him the upper limit on budget. I do fear however that the budget will be the limiting factor and will cause Ancelotti to rule himself out of the running.
Ancelotti for the long term, will be able to build a very successful team.
So who I want - Ancelotti
Who we'll get - Klopp
It will mean we have a better manager than we recently had, and hopefully get the jump on the other clubs - bar whoever gets Guardiola.
Ancelotti or Klopp...

If we end up with De Boer when Ancellotti and Klopp are out there, I'll be fuming.

Either would be great and i'd like to think that both would stipulate that Liverpool would get rid of that ridiculous transfer committee if they were to join.

That said I could see Ancelotti being more likely to use us as a stepping stone for another club
-----
Puzzling comment that. Ancelotti has already been manager of Real Madrid won titles and champions leagues.
Klopp if ambitious is more likely to "use" us as a stepping stone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Stepping stone was probably the wrong phrase to use. I meant that if something bigger came along he'd be more likely to take it than Klopp who would more inclined to continue the project he started.

Klopp has already stated he will only join Liverpool if he has final say on all transfers

and the transfer committee is scrapped:

I would of thought that LFC had lined up a manager before they sacked BR either Klopp or Ancelotti not de Boer.

What you're trying to say is that you can't bear the thought of us getting either of them**
No I'm saying are they realistic targets
Klopp could risk ruining the great repuatation he has earned at Dortmund by taking the Liverpool job and Ancelotti will know that the current squad is no where near top 4 level and would demand alot of cash in january to meet the boards unrealistic expectations

They must be realistic targets, there's just too much being said by people close to the club to be otherwise.
Klopp hasn't got a 'great' reputation yet. He's only achieved anything at one club, and he left that one on a downward spiral. He has plenty to prove, and he may see Liverpool as the place to do this.
With regards to Ancellotti, what do you know what the boards expectations are? Rodgers has stated that he was never told that top four was a must, so no one knows the reality of it.
