In reality then Sherwood has already been fired and he has two games to change Randy Lerners mind.

The bottom line is that Brendan Rodgers is now available and he is a better manager than Sherwood or Moyes. I can see BR taking the job until the end of the season initially with a view to a longer term contract.

That would suit Randy Lerner with the club being up for sale, and it would probably work better for Rodgers with his ego still bruised.

I think this deal might have already been done.

I think you would fly under Brendan Rodgers. Don't believe the Suarez hype at LFC. The bloke got the best out of Suarez and did an outstanding job , and was genuinely unlucky. He came closer to winning the league than any other Liverpool manager since Kenny Dalglish in 1990, and his team played football comparable if not better than Kenny's 87,88 teams.

If you want Moyes over Rodgers you need your heads examining.

He was on my return flight last night as well. I sat next to him while we waited for the gate to open. I asked him if he was getting away from the media and his reply 'something like that'. Not sure if he was brushing me off.

I don't think Sherwood is marked down for sacking, yet. His latest team selections and tactics have been a bit puzzling, although they worked against Blues; however, no manager always gets it right, and all managers do things that we can't understand but maybe there is a reason behind it.

I think the tipping point comes if the powers that be think that progress has come to a halt, and there's no way forwards with Tim. They may of course be reaching that point, and Fox, unlike the past few years, will have a Plan B. But it's also possible that they think Tim is still in control of the situation and that the underneath things are going in the right direction, even if there are problems.

There may be something in the rumours or there may not. One thing in Tim's favour is that we haven't yet had a thrashing, and the players seem keen to get on with it. Murphy said on MOTD about the Liverpool match that it must send any manager mad to see the determination his team was showing, only to throw the match away through stupid individual error (Lescott he was thinking of you).

A poor performance in the next two matches will probably be the tipping point. Good performances may not even if we don't win.

Moyes won nothing, did nothing, in over ten years in the premiere league, and he lasted how long at United?

Now he is on the verge of being sacked again.

Say what you want about Rodgers, but he has achieved a lot more in four years of management than what Moyes has in over a decade.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it's blinkered and un educated.

Moyes has proved that he can't handle pressure, and there will be pressure at Villa.

Rodgers has proved that he can handle pressure, and baring one slip he would have won the league.

How's that top four finish looking?

Yes I do believe Moyes is a better manager than Rodgers and here’s a few things to prove why.

You say Moyes won nothing, correct, what exactly did Rodgers win? Don’t even bother to mention promotion, it was a side that was already built, same as Moyes when he won the Charity Shield.

What has Rodgers achieved more than Moyes exactly? Moyes got us to 4th with the likes of Marcus Bent, Gary Naysmith, Pistone, Kevin Kilbane and James McFadden on a limited budget and turned us into regular European contenders from relegation fodder when he took over.

You say Moyes can’t handle pressure and bring Man United into it, come on, that was a poisoned chalice for whoever took over and he wasn’t given anywhere near the funds LVG has! Aston Villa are in the same position where we were in back in 2002 and he turned our fortunes around, just like he could do at Villa.

You say Rodgers can handle pressure? Hmmmmmm How did Rodgers cope at Reading? Oh yes, he left by ‘mutual agreement’ because they were near bottom of the league in the Championship FFS!! Oh and plenty of Reds I know blame Rodgers for losing the title against Palace by going for more goals at 3-0 instead of keeping what you had, they don’t blame it on the slip.

I do believe Moyes also finished above Rodgers too on limited resources!

I agree with L4.

I think Moyes would be perfect for Villa. I am not saying Rodgers didn't do a good job at Liverpool, but I think it would be a risk Villa cannot take.

Think both Moyes and Rodgers would be OK, without either being perfect. Both have done reasonably well, but could they have done better? Moyes rarely seemed to trouble the top teams. Rodgers had Liverpool playing bold adventurous football when Suarez was there but didn't quite have the answers when he went.

I haven't yet given up on Tim; if things click we could yet have a successful team. There are some good things there. We looked to be deservedly beating Leicester with 18 minutes to go and that would have been an outstanding result; I'm still sick at the 3 goals then conceded. Question is, is his tinkering a necessary process to evolve a winning team, or clueless floundering around? I don't know.

If he went I'd add Laudrup to the shortlist. Strikes me his approach is a very good fit for the players we bought over the summer.
