Any of Rodgers or Laudrup would be a very astute appointment IMO.
'2 games to save his job'?
I've just had a look at your fixtures for the rest of the year, ouch!
Losing players such as Benteke and Delph would hurt any club outside of the Top4 and many managers would struggle to rebuild in such a short time, imo.
Personally i like Tim (and Villa) and i hope he sorts it out as you've only lost by the odd goal so far (yeah i know, a loss is a loss whatever way you cut it).
Should he get replaced? It's a tough call. I can see it being just as difficult for the next man.
They also lost cleverley. Not that I rate him but he was decent for them
Sunderland will be fine now they have Allardyce.
Relegation this season looks like being between the three newcomers, Newcastle, Villa and maybe even WBA.
And, so far, Watford and the rest dont look too bad.
Though that may change as often the newly promoted teams start to wilt as the seaon wears on.
Looks like he's working hard. I saw him on a plane to Spain on Friday
Has Sherwood been Lambert level bad? Seems a bit unfair Lambert got 2 more seasons after flirting with relegation the first time, then Sherwood comes in, saves you from relegation, gets you to a cup final, loses Villa's best players, does poorly for less than half a season, and then gets the boot?
Football until recently has been far better but results as bad.
We battered City last year and should have won and he got us to cup final although Lambert did some of it.
That game at Leicester has turned our season to date, we looked good until those odd substitutions.
Well tactics are not really Sherwood's forte. It's more about motivating players with him, in a similar mould to Redknapp.
I think he'd be a bit hard done by if he does lose his job. Was never going to be easy after losing your 2 best players. You're at least going to need some time for the new players to perform.
After the FA cup semi-final apart from a couple of games results have been poor.
What is more worrying for me though is the performances have been poor and Sherwood doesn't seem to be able to change it.
He did very well when he first came in to my surprise, but I am not sure he can turn it around. At no point can I remember us under Lambert having only 4 points at this point of the season.
I hope he does turn it around because we did look good under him early on. The cup semi was one of the best performances I have seen from a Villa side in years.
If he does go, for me it has to be Moyes. Fingers crossed he would come.
Moyes has snubbed us before

Yeah but at no point under Lambert do I remember you selling your 2 best players. Did that ever happen?
It has happened frequently since o'neill left.
OK hands up we are just a selling club
Yeah I remember you sold Barry, Milner and Young in consecutive years round O'Neill's time, but you haven't under Lambert have you? Managed to keep hold of Benteke when he asked for a transfer.
Players got rid of such as Cahill Davis Downing to a degree havent been sensible.
Benteke & Delph were our two best players, but Sherwood has had the money put back into the squad.
The trouble is Sherwood is starting to look as ill as Lambert did towards the end. He really looks out of his depth.
The Villa job, despite our recent problems is a big job for such a novice manager.
In the Midlands, despite what our rivals may say, the pressure is far greater managing Villa than most other clubs.
It was too big for Lambert and it looks like it may be for Sherwood.
That is why I would go for Moyes. I think the timing would suit him and us, he has experience at a similar size club in Everton and although it didn't work out at Man Utd, I think anybody taking over from fergie would have struggled.
For me give Sherwood a few more games and if nothing much changes, go and get Moyes.
Agree that TS is not handling the pressure he looks tired and ruffled.
It doesnt matter who you are managing, you need to hide that Lambert to a fashion did that
What managers don't struggle after losing their 2 best players, even if they do bring new players in?
Ok, there's Koeman, but then again Southampton seem to be full of great academy players who can step up, which helps.
Agree Spurtle.....
The club as a whole has nosedived as a result of what occured during and as the fallout of MON's days.
Our home record since then has been farcical, the owner cant sell and relegation battles year after year.
Swansea, as you said Soton, Arsenal and Everton have lost top players and moved on.
Don't forget when we were poor at the back end of the season, Delph and Benteke were playing.
Four points from the teams we have played is abysmal. To have failed to beat any of WBA, Sundeland and Stoke at home is very poor.
I hope Sherwood pulls through, and I am not one for knee jerk reactions, I just think Sherwood may have bit off more than he can chew.
I hope he does but if its a two game lifeline even with the mourinho soap drama we have to beat Swansea at HOME.
Yes I agree Andy. Trouble is if you leave it much longer you have to have championship winning results.
I'm not going to say Sherwood is the best manager or he's doing the best job, I just think he should probably be entitled to more time to see if he can change things.
