Wenger about the Right flank

Taken from Arsenal.com, seems reasonable enough to me. Wants to keep all the the other players in their same positions without disrupting things to much in other positions.

on his right-sided options at Swansea…
Campbell and Alex Iwobi. Santi can play there as well but he has become very important centrally. The problem sometimes is that you can destroy two departments if you move one player out. We control the ball better with Santi in the middle.

Campbell is a serious downgrade on Ox but Wenger must know something we don't as he kept the guy when we all (well, a lot of us) thought he should have been sold and has included him in league and CL squads. He has a chance now to prove his worth or value or at the very least get better with his possession and decision-making. I for one hopes he takes it.

I think JC remained at AFC as he/AFC were unable to agree terms/fee with a buyer rather by design.

To be honest I had high hopes for JC after his CL and WC performances but at present I just don’t see him forging a career at AFC.

Neither do I to be perfectly honest. And I do know that he's still there because of an inability to move him on. But even with him being around, AW has kept in and around the squad and uses him. So he may be a decent stop gap... or at least I hope he'll be a decent stop gap. But I fully expect him to be dropped back to the bench as soon as Theo, Ox, Ramsey et.al are back.

Will be nice to see how he gets on. He's clearly not in our long term plans so a good run could put his price up a little at the least

Can't believe people would actually rather see Gibbs in an advanced position on the left, than give Joel a chance of a run in his natural position in the team on the right.

Now whilst it's true Campbell has done nothing of note in an Arsenal shirt so far, he has yet to be opportuned a run of games to find some form. Wenger already recieves enough criticism for playing players out of position, and now we are suggesting we should play Gibbs in the front line, really?

Watching Gibbs closely for some time now, both when he's started at left back or come on as a sub left wing, his attacking instincts and tactical positioning have both gone downhill, which aside from injuries has seen Monreal keep him firmly out of the starting lineup. This season, even against tired legs late on in games, we lose alot of attacking threat on that side when he comes on. Now he's still a good defender but I think he needs to gain some confidence back before we see the Gibbs of old, and certainly shouldn't be occupying an attacking role ahead of Joel.

Even if Joel does nothing extraordinary, hes the option that allows us to keep the rest of the team the same. Monreal and Alexis are forming a good understanding and dangerous link getting in behind defences on the left. If Joel can keep the basics right and build on that then we shouldn't be too bad, as nobody has pulled up any trees in that role so far this season.

Gibbs started out as a left winger and often comes on to play the advanced position and help defensively. It's really not that bad an option as it allows Sanchez to then play on the right, which he can do.

Campbell may be playing in his preferred option but doesn't have the confidence of the manager. We may be deficient attack-wise on the left as a result but would be strong defensively. And would definitely be strong defensively and attack-wise on the right with Bellerin and Sanchez.

It's not what's going to happen but I think it's at least as good an option as Campbell on the right.

Starting a match with gibbs lw would be a bit embarrassing. Joels a far better forward than Gibbs ffs. And Sanchez and bellerin is an imbalanced combo.

People are going on like Joel's some untested kid. Hes played seasons in la liga and Greece. He hasn't had a chance cos we have much better options but remember we used to regularly play eboue, bendtner and co in our attack and still come fourth.

He should be fine for this run in. The problem is another injury to an attacker and we are resoundingly facked.

Campbell has to start. Give the guy a facking chance.

Alexis & Bellerin on the right would leave huge amounts of space on Swanseas left to exploit. We also want Alexis to attack Naughton, the weakest link of Swanseas back 4. Ideas of Debuchy stepping in and pushing Bellerin forward are nonsense, we'll need our strongest back 4 to keep Ayew, Montero and Gomis at bay if we want to maintain momentum.

It isn't actually RW that worries me. I like Giroud, but really would have fancied Walcott running in behind Williams and the Swansea defence.

It’s also worth noting that Gibbs’ form of late has been dreadful.

We need Giroud in the form of the Everton game and we will be alright, Ron.

Gibbs is like a lot of players in that he needs a few games under his belt to hit top form. There are lot of players like that and the biggest of them was Bergkamp. To judge players like that on the odd appearance here and there does not really do them justice. If he wouold get a few games it might be worth playing him.

Another option has to be to stick Debuchy in the advanced position. Not ideal but Im surprised its not been mentioned that I have seen and he could do with match time.

Campbell was a huge disappointment against Wednesday, whilst Iwobi at least showed something about him.

Despite that, I'd give Campbell another chance. It would at least keep the team balanced and he might perform better with a full strength side around him
