We have 8/9 players out now, and 6 of them in Theo, Ox, Welbeck, Ramsey, Wilshere and Rosicky could have filled in on the right. We've taken a massive hit in that area. Santi could have filled in too, but Arteta, Ramsey and Wilshere's absences makes it impossible that he could leave the CM.
Personally, and I'm sure it would be controversial, I'd rather move Alexis right and play Gibbs on the left wing. It's a more balanced formation than many think.
I think people are being a little bit ridiculous about all these crazy formations and changes.
We are playing well and have 10 players who are excelling in their respective positions.
Straight swap on the right for Campbell and I don't think he is too much of a downgrade on Ox who wasn't having the best of times anyway.
Joel will also be able to provide cover on Montero. He is used to running himself in to the ground for Costa Rica so and as long as he puts in a shift (a la Ramsey) and doesn't give the ball away too much then we will be just fine.
Bellerin provides the greatest threat down the right hand flank anyway. It's not like Rambo is a winger.

Finally some sense. Everyone pretending Campbell is some schoolboy its astonishing. Obviously he's going to be trying to force things (as he needs to showcase some quality to get back into the team). Ramsey did that for months and very few commented on it.
On that right flank, Campbell isn't as much of a stepdown as Ramsey and Ox. I reckon we can plan all our attacks to not involve him in buildup at all. If he does his job in defense and goes sniffing at the far post during attacks (which you can't beg Ox to do) then we'll be fine.

----------------------------------------
Exactly this.
Just because he is on the pitch doesn't mean he has to be central to our attacks. He can just act as an extra body in the box offensively and an extra man in midfield defensively.
Given Sanchez's propensity to cut inside and Bellerin's standard run's on the outside our RF position hasn't been used/needed for about 6 months now.
I think people will be surprised at what Joel can do when he has Ozil/Cazorla/Alexis in the team and he isn't surrounded by the second string/youth team.
I have faith in him and I know Arsene has too.

Lol @ people thinking Joel is anything more than a below average footballer.
The fact of the matter is he has been at the club for well over year and Wenger is still yet to give him a start in a PL match or any match of significance for that matter. Wenger trusts him no more than he did Park.
So keep bigging him up and pretending everything is going to be OK with him stepping in because he won't be playing. Either Flamini will come in to midfield with Ozil playing wide or Gibbs/Debuchy will come in to the team with Alexis/Bellerin playing on the right.
Oh and Flamini, Gibbs and Debuchy are all internationals for far more established nations than Costa facking Rica do by that flawed logic, all would be better options than Joel anyway.
Two old fools agreeing with each other, no surprise there.

------------------------
Yeah, because Gibbs wouldn't walk into Costa Rica's squad.....idiot. Cpbell is facking sheite. At least, Gibbs can get the basics in his passing and link-up play right. Campbell is so damn raw. The classic definition of a headless chicken.
While I agree JC has not shown he has the required level of quality in an Arsenal shirt, he has (when played regularly) played well previously at CL level, and at the World Cup.
It’s clear (despite AW’s statements to the contrary) AW does not have a great deal of faith in him, and I think he will be moved on.
However there nothing to suggest that he doesn’t have a decent performance in him.
Anyone with sense can see it will be Campbell starting. He's average but he's not poor.
Personally, and I'm sure it would be controversial, I'd rather move Alexis right and play Gibbs on the left wing. It's a more balanced formation than many think.
Yeah Gibbs positioning is being exceptional
However there nothing to suggest that he doesn’t have a decent performance in him.
----------------------
Besides never having a decent performance for us, of course. Boy is average.
Arsene Wengooner
True, however he hasn’t been afforded much of an opportunity to do so.
Difficult for any player to build confidence when they are not given regular game time, regardless of ability.
IMO a loan to a PL club would have been beneficial (for both club and player).
Ox is pretty average too, so i can't see how campbell will be a major step down. biggest loss is ramsey
Ramsey has actually been integral to our recent form. Brings great balance to the team and does brilliantly in our build up play. He's improved a lot from the start of the season when he was dreadful to say the least.
Ox on the other hand isn't a big loss at all. He's as raw if not more than Campbell and he's a defensive liability too. I am glad Campbell will get a chance to finally prove himself even though I doubt he has the quality.
While Ramsey is certainly a loss, I don’t agree that (being played wide right) he brings balance to the side.
He works hard, and ‘does a job’ but he is not, and never will be a wide player.
He brings balance because he isn't a wide player and allows us to overload the midfield and retain possession high up the field. Look at all the games we've played with two wide men and see how poor we've been.
Walcott, Ox and Sanchez. Don't want to see that front three ever again!
I was actually agreeing more with Wengers logic not to disrupt players in other positions in the starting 11.
Defo don't think JC is the answer at all, was thinking more of Iwobi forgetting about Gibbs who's not starting so he is also a very good option on the flank.
Iwobi loses the ball far more than Campbell. It has to be Campbell.
Wumpatrol
To be fair of all our ‘usual starters’ Ramsey has been the weakest. AW is (appreciate stating the obvious) not getting the best from Ramsey playing him out of position.
Campbell really isn't much of a downgrade on Chamberlain.
Obviously not as good a dribbler or getting past a man but he's a decent passer of the ball and is more technically adept than people give him credit for.
Would trust him far more defensively than Ox as well
