As a more-or-less neutral I'd say Villa do have the players to survive.
But two things need to be done:
i. A first XI (plus subs) needs to picked and stuck with. And that first XI cannot include Richardson, Westwood, Bacuna or Agbonlahor.
ii. Villa need to change the way they line up and stick to it. With a 3(5) at the back and two up front (Ayew with either Gestede or Kozak) there is defence and goals in the team.
I'd even bring back Lescott and make him captain. He worked at WBA because Pulis didnt ask him to move. And with Clark and Okore as a back three, he wouldnt have to move again.
Sure there might be some big defeats with that approach but there will also be goals. And Villa could win enough to stay up.
The real problem Villa have is getting a coach to do those two things!

We've tried 3 at the back and the problem has been that the wing backs do even less defending than now and yet don't provide the impetus going forwards. I was happy with the set-up against MC, with Sanchez sitting just in front of the back 4. The problem with that it that we need to find somebody solid to fill Amavi's position. That's not Richardson.
The January window could be interesting. Don't rule out the French Connection; Remi has friends in Wenger and Houllier, and that could lead to signings or loans.

Charlie Austin hope.

Apparently, Charlie Austin said last week that he doesn't want to join a PL club that's fighting against relegation.

If three teams never got a point all season, then the team that finished 17th would survive with 1pt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
That'd be impossible on both counts - three teams not getting a point all season and the team finishing in 17th getting one point.

I like the idea of 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1. We did OK against MC with a midfield of Veretout, Sanchez and Gana, Sanchez sitting just in front of the back four. If Remi can work out a good replacement for Amavi then that should do us, or stick Gardner in for Gana if Gana is off form.
We then need to build fast attacks for the front three, whoever the front three are.

Try 2-5-3-1-1-3. That's the Samaritans' number.
