Let's face it, we're by far the finished article. We've made massive progress on last season, but there are still problem areas. My initial thoughts are:
1. Harry Kane looked our poorest performer in the first 60 minutes - not surprising considering that he was a mere youth on the fringe of the first team this time last year, compared with how much is expected from him now. Clinton N'Jie, our other 'striker’, also being injured, didn’t help
To state the bleeding obvious:
Solution - NEW STRIKER
2. Strange selection. Carroll didn't embarrass himself against Monaco, but why promote him to DM and move Alli into an advanced position he's never played for the first team yet?
3. If only Eriksen was 10% or more better than he is, we would be flying. As it is, he shows worrying lack of improvement. Good free kick-taker, but mystifyingly not great with corners. Whereas other players, such as Lamela, appear to be adapting and improving could you honestly say that of Eriksen?
In summary, the unbeaten run was always going to end, and most probably in a ‘Spursy’ sort of way, which it did, but there are still great signs of progress which I feel even the most hard-to-please Spurs fans will agree.

Overall I'm a happy spurs fan but its results like today that hurt the most...we should be winning
But fairplay newcastle who didn't deserve to lose
Who else knew it was coming today.. All 2nd half it felt like a bad result was around the corner

I called their first goal just as the corner was awarded, and I called the winning goal scorer as soon as he came on as a sub. I put it down to 40 years of watching Spurs.

Yeah but this time seems different....we're only 'Spursy' one game in 14. If that becomes the new normal, I think you will have the grin wiped off your face

Yeah not really though,
Spurs - start of decent, get hyped up, shout of a title to top 4 challenge, then the inevitable decline, standard 6th position finish for Spurs.
It's a cycle that we all know too well.

The season don`t end in December, still plenty of time to put things right. Notice the gobby Gooners are all coming out of the closet after weeks of Wenger out. We still have their meltdown to come say aroundabout mid February to March.

On reflection though, I was one saying Carroll should have come off, but history shows that we were in total control until Carroll came off....or did he come off after their equaliser?

Isn't a home game against a team in the relegation zone precisely the kind of opportunity you might choose to make this sort of gamble?
