When the last defender takes out a player in the box and and gives away a penalty should that be it or is a red card also necessary along with a 3 match ban? (Not sure if it's been changed to 1) nevertheless should this rule be changed? Surely the penalty alone is just punishment.

So, if you're going to intentionally snap someone in half, make sure you do it as last defender in the penalty area?

But that would be a red anyway.

Well the red will just write up his report that the red was for violent conduct. You a dafty?

Exactly, so like I said then. It *can* be a 3 match ban, same as any other.

Not for being last man, unless the defender choke slams him does a round house kick to the head. 3 match bans are for violent conduct.

Fair comment NPE about what if the player is 40 yards out but the rule doesn't have to be rigid. Again it can be upto the refs discretion.

Well it depends, lets just say its a foul on a box where the striker has a good chance of scoring, maybe a yellow and pen is fair enough.
But what happens if the ball has been shot at goal and someone clears it off the line with their hand? Surely it should still be a straight red?
