'Arrogant Martin Atkinson'

This is not a WUM I promise....

Have you seen what Jagielka is quoting as a response from Martin Atkinson in reply to being asked about the out-of-play cross by Sterling for City's goal...?

“I tried to (speak to him)," said Jagielka. “He told me that my defending was brilliant, so it is difficult when things start going the wrong way and they become a little bit arrogant – but unfortunately that is the way it goes.'

Now last night was a night where us Liverpool fans could not lose and the fume on twitter from some our blue brothers was extreme and akin to a child in a temper tantrum BUT I do have a question....

Is this an acceptable response from a match official? Keep in mind that Jagielka is questioning his ability to do his job, is it ok for the ref to do the same to the player who should have played to the whistle? Or is it an unprofessional and 'arrogant' response from what should be an impartial official?

Ps read on about the foul throw that was giving before the throw was taken not a great example for Atkinson and his abilities

Without knowing exactly the terms that Jagielka used its hard to criticise Atkinson, or not, as the case may be.

It's a tough one for the ref to spot anyway and really it's the lino's call and ref has to stand by his call.

If Jagielka just asked politely then Atkinson is a bit out of order, but when do footballers ever ask politely...

I've only ever refereed once - it was an Under 9's game, and the amount of crap I got from a couple of parents because I gave a decision against their little darling was enough to put me off doing it ever again.

Didn't know that you got refs in bowls.

Didn't know you had under 9's in bowls either. Maybe RAP meant under 90's

Although I dislike Atkinson, you can sort of imagine the line used by Jagielka to illicit this response...

its unlikely this response came from a simple question about the incident but more of a statement of the Ref's abilities

I may have Everton tinted specs on when I say this but I struggle to imagine Jags being a little git on the pitch and illiciting this sort of response.

Everton got away with few dodgy decisions earlier part of the season..

Atkinson has it in for us since his humiliation on the Rodwell red.

I know every ref should cover a number of home and away games for each side, but this was nearly Poll at the World Cup level of mistake.

He will be going to the Euros!!

Media revenue rules the world, referee's are the puppets. I am sick of the game tbh
