I have been supporting Liverpool since the days of Bob Paisley (only just mind)
The bigger memories are of his successors and I would defy any football fan to come up with a list of differing managers that swung their club wildly from being almost at the very top to being close to falling back into mid table mediocrity.
It's been an absolute roller coaster, the immediate highs under Joe Fagan the new kid on the block in Kenny, the pain that followed after that, the struggles under Souness ( that man cared too much for the club IMO)
Anyway enough rambling, this team we have before us is incredibly one of the worst I have ever seen, in fact I would have to go back to the days of Jimmy Carter and David Speedie to compare such rank new signings as we have whitnessed over the last few years. A club simply cannot bear the addition of so many poor signings and not end up as the fall guys for a team put together in a year or two in Leicester City.
Players like Lallana and Lovren are two huge signings and for the money we paid expected to be top performers for many years to come. You can count the games they have been brilliant in on one hand.
Benteke is another big money signing who is simply not up to playing for a club like Liverpool. It's pitiful to watch him as his talent strains to deliver and his determination is non existent to bring him up to scratch.
We have one of the worst goalkeepers to ever don the gloves for the club, he can produce a great save but every other aspect of his game is fatally flawed to such an extent his defenders dread defending the penalty area and they as a rule do not defend the penalty area well. Bar Clyne the others are all at sea.
That brings me to the midfield. Hendo and Milner are two of the most one dimetional players I have ever seen play for the club. No invention or what we need in midfield a nice pass, no goals, out worked by many opposition midfielders leaving Can to do all the work, for one player that is intolerable. Poor sod Allen is the interchangeable stooge. Henderson is the epitomy of how bad we are, the player that the young ones look up to but in many games this season the one Klopp hooks in the second half. There is no way he is good enough to be Liverpool captain in a million years!
Upfront is our main hope but not from Daniel Sturridge. Klopp already has his card marked. While Suarez was here setting the team alight Daniel hauled himself into action becuase to him it's fair weather flying at its finest. A great time to use his undoubted talent to look good and indeed better than he actually is. It's no coincidence that his fitness has dropped off since Suarez left IMO. He is pretty much a persona non grata as far as Klopp is concerned and quite rightly so. A disgrace to the shirt.
So that leaves us with the injured Ings and Origi. Both players who fit Klopps strategy and hard work rate requirements I'm sure both will feature heavily in the next couple of years for Klopp probably as plan B strikers when he gets his own players in. As for Benteke he is a player who will undoubtly be offloaded as yet another square peg round hole player of we we have seen so many come and go over the years.
So it's a downbeat article yes, but the light at the end of the tunnel came pretty much out of the blue, Klopp decided to make this club his new project. Through all the carnage of this season we have at last found a manager who will pick carefully before bringing in another duffer we will eventually have to offload at a huge loss.
The Grujic signing is classic Klopp and I can see him bringing Markovic back into the fold next season. There will be many other leftfield signings and huge turmoil to come but I have faith in our new manager to gradually turn things around.
Not a knee jerk, just an honest assessment of where we are at. To those using the old knee jerk argument I hope you will put up with more abject defeats to come and not find it too much to defend the indefensible. I fear for Klopp I really do because he has the hardest job in European football IMO, and he will need every ounce of skill and luck to turn this dreadful mess around.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.
The worst Liverpool team in my memory.

Biglaa I suppose Klopp Dortmund last season over 34 games got an impressive 1.352941176470588 points per game to finish 7th amazingly so his record at Liverpool this season is better. Klopp is a poor manager to get results in recent years.

I wouldn't mind if we didn't get Europa league spots.
It gives Klopp a hell of a lot of time on the training field, which is what we need in my opinion.
How much time does he have at the moment between matches? Hardly any and with Europa coming on soon that will be further constrained. A step back to then really build and get everything just how klopp needs it to be.

Even with just say, three, four new players coming in, top class players, that's going to take a time to bed them in. Europa league? Like Redinthehead I'm all for missing out on top six. If we we likely to get top four, then, plan B, but not at present.

Souness and Hodgson's team were worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disagree re hodgson. He had a decent team but his management was awful
------
With Hodgson it was the managers attitude as much as anything else, he had no intention of trying to maintain the old traditions. His comments on Torres really set the tone, but at least we still had the likes of Carra and Gerrard in the team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You mean he didn't pander to the hysterical flock and was honest about Liverpool's place in the modern game?

ive never seen an amazing liverpool side in my time.
but ive seen a couple of good ones. mainly average ones but this one is absolute dross.
I cant think of one player I would take.
Even in some of the more average teams you had the likes of mcmanman, owen, fowler, gerrard
and i cannot believe they just gave that excuse for a keeper a new five year deal

Stretty to be fair Mignolet usually helps us out or be it most of the goals he conceded against us whilst at Liverpool he really has had very little chance of saving any of them. In fact our best finishing has been against Liverpool top corner stuff

Bring Rodgers back. 1.5 points per game with Rodgers over 8 game period vs Klopp 16 game period 1.375 points per game. I am honestly suprised why Klopp doesn't get any negative attention in media while everywhere from bbc, sky, espn their is a massive LVG bashing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You should be happy, LvG told you so.
I really do hope one day the lightbulb inside your head *pings* on and you realise that football isn't about stats. Klopp doesn't get bashed by the media because he isn't a cockwomble.
Surprised LvG stopped short of saying the fans are only booing because the game is over and they have to go home!

Your absolutely right Stretty, in fairness, I can't think of any Red player good enough to break into your squad since time began.
Keegan, Kennedy, Dalglish, Hensen,Rush, Torres, Suarez.
I'd better stop at Suarez.
It's, well, really, pointless going on.
