We served this notice when we repaid the loan, that triggered the 7 year notice period.

The chairman has decided to issue a statement the day after SD backed down in court over the stupid case they brought against him with regards the confidentiality agreement......I'm not in the least bit surprised by that either, if I had a wee personal victory liek that I'd be inclined to crow about it too

It's the BBC, you gotta give them slack, they probably worked hard to try and find a way to make it seem like Rangers were in the wrong somehow before they went with the story.

Curly, going by what Dave King said in his statement it looks like they could be separate things, with the notice being given looking like a voluntary action, rather than notice being triggered when the loan was paid. I could be wrong though!

"An unanticipated investment was made to pay off the Sports Direct loan and to recover all security held by Sports Direct. That has now been completed and the club has formally given notice to end the relationship with Sports Direct while still reserving our right to proceed with challenges to the existing suite of contracts and side agreements in a court of law.”

I think you are right mate, and apologies coop.

One didn't automatically trigger the other, but I'm 100% certain one could not have happened without the other.

My understanding of it is that under the duration of the loan Ashley had 75% control of Rangers Retail, and as the retail deal is with Sport Direct and Rangers Retail and not the club, notice to end the deal was never going to be ratified by a company that Ashley had a 75% stake of.

After the loan was repaid, the club got 51% ownership of Rangers Retail again, giving the club the majority, and the means to serve the notice.

From where I was coming from, I was basically of the mind that as soon as the loan was paid off, notice would be given, as there would be no reason for delay
