Nigel Pearson

Just reported on SSNHQ that Derby have contacted representatives of Nigel Pearson about him taking over in the summer.

Hardly a surprise, I should imagine that despite his rather curious antics, he remains an attractive proposition for Championship clubs aiming for promotion. Terrific football, outstanding fitness, renowned team spirit.

Would be good for Derby - assuming he got to grips quickly with the 'Derby Way' - whatever that is.

I wonder though, whether they would pursue Pearson if Derby found themselves promoted this season?

Does Strett believe we actually paid out lump sums for these players and will be doing so with Clement?

He'll be getting Billy'd, i.e. drawing his salary until such a time as he wants a new position and then he'll compromise on whatever the balance is.

"£5m pay-off"

FFP? FFS.

Nobody pays upfront for players, it's not how transfers are done. I've explained this to you before.

Managers, though are different, Clements was sacked so will have to be paid up for the remainder of his contract; unless it was gross misconduct.
If he is going back to being Ancelotti's tea boy then before commencing he will have to have had his monies for the contract; you can't be contracted financially to two clubs.

Clement signed a four year contract worth £8m, so my estimate of £5m was a tad conservative. It's more than that.

Depends on the wording of the contract Strett. In the case of former Forest legend Billy Davies, Forest are indeed continuing to pay his salary until 2017, but there is a clause that if he takes another job before then his contract with Forest ceases. He is exercising his right not to sign another contract because he wants to squeeze a bit more out of Forest before the gravy train stops rolling. There is likely to be a similar situation with Clement except that Clement is more likely to get job offers than Artoo and is also more likely to want to get back in the game quickly rather than disappear. It's unlikely Derby will end up paying too much, but thanks as ever for caring.

I think rowett was running out of ideas as burton were struggling a bit to get points to keep up the promotion chase so the bimingham job came up just in time for him.i wouldn't mind him at derby.pearson would be better if he can calm down. a far better choice with a proven track record
