I'm not necessarily saying that sterling has been better but the stats are interesting.
A minimal difference in age and with martial costing slightly more makes you think sterling perhaps has been a very good signing, if you believe that martial is a very good signing
Of course, sterling plays with better players which may explain why he has more goals/assists but this doesnt explain his superiority in individual stats such as pass completion and shot accuracy
Sterling v Martial

Memphis has more potential than sterling tho.

He'd try to do too much himself which for someone who showed such game intelligence when he broke into the team (for a youngster that is) it was quite shocking. Far too often he didn't pass when he needed to and as the season went on he even started passing when he should go on himself....

Couldn't agree more.

I think both players are very good
both still kids
neither are flops, although if they don't improve in the next couple of years (they should) then they won't be worth the fees.

Wouldn't call either a flop.
Sterling has shown what he can do, but has had some poor games too, same goes for Martial. Consistency isn't there yet but they're both very young.
Not sure what the article says regarding the fees, but Sterling's cost was around £50m straight up, even if he flops, whereas Martial's fee is only the full £55m if he wins all kinds of things and becomes a world star.
Would say that Sterling has looked more settled in the City squad, and probably contributed more than Martial, but it's worth noting that he's not new to the league having played a full season next to Suarez and Sturridge, he knows what to expect and what's required of the PL.
One final thing to mention is the expectations, Sterling obviously came with a price tag, but he's not had to shoulder too much responsibility yet, as City also signed KDB, they have Toure and Silva, and obviously Aguero in attacking positions. Martial has through no fault of his own, and it's saddening to say but he's been our only attacking threat in so many games, sometimes it's clear he's been trying to do things on his own which is often to his detriment. I imagine he would have looked even better in the City side.
Both very good players currently, potentially brilliant.

You don't pay close to 50m for someone who still needs time to develop. That's crazy. Whatever pressure Sterling is under has been put on by himself anyway by demanding a move to a better club. Could have stayed at Liverpool and 'developed' all he wanted there instead of rocking up at City where he has not found it so easy. Time will tell. I don't think he will make it. Hasn't got the right attitude. As with a lot of young English players.

I don't think Sterling will become the player that people seem to think he should be,what you see now is pretty much what you get, and that for me is more than enough
His attitude is excellent ,he says the right things,if he had converted the chance in the league cup final one way or the other would he become a different player ,no he would still be the same player, a very good one that benefits City

If Sterling is "what you see is what you get" for the foreseeable future, then we need to get rid.
Sorry but like Roy Walker, I say what I see.
Big jugs.

Course you do. If you think his career could span 10 years at the club 50m could be looked back on as a snip. Same reason United paid 30m for Rooney all that time ago.
