All 4 games between Liverpool and United have been pretty poor quality. Two once great clubs now reduced to fighting over their own levels of mediocrity.
It was only a few years ago that the front three for United was Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez. Now its Rashford, Lingard and Martial
It was only a few years ago that the midfield three of Liverpool was Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano. Now its Henderson, Milner and Lallana.
Given both clubs have spent a small fortune over recent years, how on earth has this happened?!
Massive amount of work to do for both clubs to get anyway near the levels of years gone by. With the sugar daddy clubs like City, Chelsea, PSG, the Spanish teams cheating the system and getting bank bailouts like Real and Barca and the rise of the Chinese clubs offering silly money, the only future is the youth setups to bring on and BUILD a team rather than buy one. Yet only TWO players last night on show were academy products; Rashford and Lingard.
This is a really poor show, its such a shame.....

You had 4 shots on target across 2 games.
We had 15.
I think it's pretty clear where the mediocrity lies.

Yeah, it's almost as though people have completely forgotten that we were in decline under SAF. I actually think he was a bit arrogant about the threat of clubs like City. This showed both in his comments and in his transfer dealings imo.
Apart from a spirited and slightly unlucky performance against Real in his final season, we were pretty much crap in Europe towards the end of SAF's reign - and we were declining on the domestic front as well.
People will always talk of our failure to replace the greatest manager in history - which was always going to be a thankless task - but our problems started long before SAF retired imo.
People remember Ron and Tevez but evidently they have forgotten about the hiding we took from teams like Bilbao.

Have thaught exactly the same way. Fergie was a genius and a legend but he was slipping in his final couple of seasons despite going out as title winners. Only he could win a PL with the squad of players he had in his final season as moyes found to his cost.

When Fergie did not deal with Rooney in 2010, I knew his time was up. I was called horrible names for stating this then.

You are but we are closing the gap and could well overtake you. You may be above us currently but we are hitting form at just the right time. United, on the other hand, don't look to be going anywhere.

What is it with the 'we're above you in the league'?
None of it fecking matters until the whistle is blown in the last game of the season.
Then and only then does it matter who is above who in the league.

The persistence with an aging scholes and giggs when we were all crying out for big signings in midfield and then not going head to head financially with psg for Lucas moura. Losing pogba and playing players out of position rather than buying proven players. The genius that he is he made it work but its proved costly in the long term.

Spot on - and there are many other examples as well. I said for years that these decisions will come back to haunt us.
Several years ago I said that 1) not signing a top CM was a mistake because we would end up still needing one (or two) at the same time as having to replace the likes of Rio, Vidic and Evra. Exactly what happened...2) Our policy of signing "value" players could eventually lead to a situation where we struggle to attract the top players because top players usually want to play with other top players and we would end up having none once our senior players moved on.
Neither Moyes nor LVG have addressed or improved the situation but nor should they take all the blame imo.
