I bought this again yesterday
For the 3rd time...
I've tried to get into it 2 separate times previously but something just isn't gripping me, I have no use what it is...
I'm going to try it this time and will probably just keep it if I don't like it!
I only paid £2 for it off eBay!
Any beginner tips? Levelling? Easier game?

The only thing I disliked about skyrim is the way you level up, it' IS far more simple compared to oblivion.
In skyrim you just level up your Health, Magicka and Stamina.
I'm oblivion you had 8 major attributes that you could only increase by levelling up (like skyrims, H, M, S)
Strength
Intelligence
Willpower
Agility
Speed
Endurance
Personality
Luck
to level up you had to increase your 21 minor skills (like those in skyrim ie archery, potions, sneak, lock picking etc.)
Once you increased one of your major attributes then one of H, M or S would increase (ie increase endurance and your Health would go up too, or increase intelligence to increase Magicka, or Willpower to increase Magicka recharge rate)
Skyrims levelling means you become a jack of all trades player very quickly
In oblivion it took a long time to become a jack of all trades player where you were good at everything, for much of the game you focused heavily on either being your standard fighter, a mage, a thief, or more of a player where you could talk your way through everything.
For me the levelling system in Oblivion was more fun and seemed more rewarding.

Oops forget the last line!
If you keep dying or having to run out of a cave from an enemy try putting the difficulty down a level. In in game settings

What type of player does everyone like playing?
I like sneaking around and using archery, getting a sneak kill feels far more rewarding than hacking and slashing.
And someone above asked what was my favourite quests..
I always side with the Imperials, dont need some disorganised band of peasants ruling skyrim.
The Dark Brotherhood I enjoy the most i think. Whenever I play through the game i always tend to play it in the same quest order.
Start off poor, so do the Companions and thieves guild, then working my way up i join the legion and do a bit of the dragon born quest, once that is done i join the makes and start doing the daedric quests, and at the end do the dark Brotherhood when my character is a badass haha

Cant say I have a favourite questline. But I think the dwarvern mines are amazing, and my favourite area.
I agree that its very easy to become op, but this is where I use mods. Skyrim needs to be played on a PC.
I like the spell sword type of builds here - dual wielding swords and fireballs is great fun. Must admit i very rarely go full on spell caster in most rpgs, i have a tendency for melee.

oh my - every time I read a thread about Skyrim I want to buy it again. I hope a remastered version hits the PS4.
I completed it...but theres always stuff to do..and I think I only got around 60% of it.

More keys assigned to controls isn't always bad design just as less isn't always good. It's all based off the game you're playing. Dominions 4 is the deepest game I have ever played where there are like 80 keyboard shortcuts/controls. It's probably my most favourite game ever.
Braid had about 2 button controls and it's a masterpiece.
There isn't a formula for what is best. Just have to take games one at a time. Cause as we all know, gaming is super serious.

firstly skyrim isn't "immense"
and secondly,
its far from being "One of gaming's best 'worlds' ever made."

Playing it from the start with the downloads added is an absolute joy.
So much to do, don't understand why anyone would say it's repetitive, some missions are, but there is so much other stuff to do that a couple of similar missions hardly even registers
