Totally gutted we haven't got the extra mile for Pearson. After the shambles of the season we had, a firm hand is what was needed to rejuvenate and give the players a kick up the you know what. Di Matteo is way to softer touch for the club and i fear it will end miserably for him. The thing that worries me about the owner is why on earth made him rate Di Matteo so highly ?? He is obviously way too attached by the Chelsea champions league win being all down to Di Matteo which it clearly wasn't. Hollis had Pearson down as the man to pick the club back up as did pretty much all the fans. Im fed up with us appointing second rate managers !!! I think this article sums it all up perfectly ... http://www.myoldmansaid.com/nigel-pearson-now-favourite-rival-xia-favours-di-matteo/?

Leicester won the league, ergo they were the best team in England by some distance.
Last year Pearson took the almost identical squad to the brink of relegation. If you switched the two seasons around then Pearson would have looked like a disaster. I think he is a terrible manager.
Di Matteo on the other hand is a Champions League winning manager, and far superior to Pearson.
Although, I do agree that he is the wrong type of manager for Villa in the situation you guys are in.
You need more of a Mick McCarthy type manager.

Di Matteo was a classy player who got lucky managing Chelsea in a position of managerial turmoil...don't get carried away...in saying that this might just be the making of him

As Igor said, it's about results. And that is what should count. Not personality.
Pearson built the team spirit in Leicester and built most of the squad. He also took them on that amazing unbeaten run and even (AFAIK) got them promoted twice.
If I was at Villa, he would be my choice. Cranky or not.
Di Matteo - even if he comes - will be gone by the end of the season with Villa mid-table at best.
By contrast Newcastle will be back in the PL.

Don't forget Di Matteo also got Chelsea to win the FA Cup that same season as the Champions League, AND he has proven Championship credentials - he took over at West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2009, and Albion won immediate promotion back to the Premier League with 92 points. And now at Villa he's got Steve Clarke helping him.

You need to cut Pearson some slack for being a rookie in the Premier League, and give him some credit for the turnaround in Leicester's fortunes after they were rock bottom at Christmas 2014. After winning League One and the Championship with Leicester, and then guiding them to PL safety, he is clearly not a terrible manager.
And Mick McCarthy is NOT the type of manager Villa need. He was well short of ideas with Wolves in the PL, persisting with a Championship squad and failing to bring in players of the requisite quality, and their relegation was nailed on.

Imagine picking little old us over O such big Villa.
Bodes well, good luck with him, no championship experience, will have to learn the hard way it seems.

Di Matteo has no Championship experience?
