Just offering an alternative. In all seriousness though if we start badly v Palace in probably the 1st league match that we will be odds on favourites to win, then the crowd will certainly react with even more hatred towards Bates. Losing Gradel was not just an issue because we have lost a quality player, but also the impact that it will have on squad morale. We were already facing an uphill task trying to achieve a top 6 target without selling one of our best players.
I agree the fans have a right to be angry because with our ticket prices there should at least be intent shown to improve. Although the reality is that some clubs cannot compete financially. Everton another big club finished 7th last year like us, and the reward as with us was nothing. Therefore there fans will have hoped to see the club recruit better players in an attempt to reach europe. Instead they've lost average players like Beckford and Yakubu, and a key player in Arteta (sounds familiar). We just have to hope our existing top players are kept on long term and develop to see us promoted.

Cheers Eric!
I post less and less these days as I seldom have a positive contribution to make. Inexpliicably though, I will still go home and away, I am actually looking forward already to the Palace game, at 54 years old, is it senility do you think?

The yobs amongst us shouldn't have smashed up his shiny new electronic scoreboard at Stamford Bridge just because we were losing 4-0, way back whenever it was ... .. then started chanting "Chelsea, Chelsea, what's the score" ..
I'll always have this nagging suspicion that his vow that day to "destroy Leeds United" wasn't just a spur-of-the-moment thing ..

Aah but way back then, he hadn't tasted fish and chips out of paper at Graveley's!
He has now, he's addicted!
He has even crossed out Bermondsey on his birth certificate and written Middleton in in crayon!
Ken Bates by virtue of his frugal attitude where money matters are concerned is a true Yorkshireman!
