As it stands and Vardy doesn't change that. I'd be pleased with this signing because he's a good player with a killer instinct but it'd still be underwhelming considering we've waited 4 years to upgrade on Giroud.
Is this the best we can do? My main issue is Vardy doesn't eliminate Giroud as a starter. Wenger will use them each in specific games and the rotation between Giroud & Theo failed massively last year.
Wenger just sees Vardy as a more clinical Walcott but his lack of combination play won't see Wenger stick with Jamie all year round.
Giroud's return to the fold last year destroyed our season, the counter-attacking displays where we destroyed the likes of United & Bayern with Theo starting really was what we should've stuck with.
Leicester proved that formula could breed success over 38 games.
No surprise Giroud was happy about the news he knows Vardy is little threat because at worst they'll be rotated if not Vardy being shunted wide to accommodate the big man if he was in undroppable form.
We need a complete CF who brings combination play, ability to run in behind and is all round clinical. Giroud needs to be eliminated to a bench role (where he's best) and being our cup striker.
How we've still not found a WORLD CLASS striker since RVP is disgraceful.
No wonder GT is celebrating the news, give it till December Giroud will be leading the line either besides Vardy or instead of him (bookmark).
Wenger's loyalty to Giroud has ruined Arsenal, hopefully just 1 year left under this manager.
For the record I like Vardy, great mentality my main issue is how he'll be used at Arsenal. He won't be main man all year round that's for sure and this is our biggest problem.
Costa, Ibra, Aguero, Kane, Sturridge >> Vardy.
Worst CF among the top clubs unfortunately, fact.
We Have the Worst CF Among Top PL Clubs

Even if we sign Vardy, he will shafted to the flanks for sure

If a young player had just had a season like Vardy's we'd still be unsure of the transfer as it's so far a one off.
The fact Vardy is in his late 20s should ring serious alarm bells.
All that said the qualities he showed last season are exactly what we need. Movement, finishing, hardwork and speed - most of which Giroud is awful at.
Vardy could work out nicely for a season or two but I'd rather spend more on a younger better player with similar attributes.

I think Vardy will be Wengers replacement for the injured Welbeck and his legs/workrate on the left hand side of Giroud. Whilst also being a good option as the main striker should Giroud have a run of bad form or get injured.

Hope you're right. There are plenty of better strikers we can sign. Stats can only tell half the story - if we were going by stats last summer then we wouldn't have even considered Vardy

What the Fek you lot want then? I asked someone yesterday on other thread, name me 3 striker which we can buy better than Vardy? no one answered ! feking deluded people.
Who is available? Lukaku is fekin inconsistent, Higuain is unproven in PL and crazy price tag for his age. Morata is avg, honestly, don't think so he is world class to carry us on his shoulder.
Who is left? name me fekin striker. Benzema is overrated, end of.
Vardy is def improve us, no matter he is stop gap, short term solution. He is a late bloomer and will keep going good atleast for another 2-3 seasons (if he stays fit). Get a grip guys, don't moan just for sake of slating club not signing a striker.

Theo didn't get dropped for Giroud last season, he was the solid first choice until he got injured, just like every other season. Then when he came back he was crap. Vardy doesn't get injured so if we're doing well with him up front Wenger wouldn't change that just because he supposedly loves Giroud.
I mean do you even pay attention to what happens or do you just invent (eheh, now your name makes sense) stuff to fit your paranoid little view of the world?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You forgetful idiot. Theo was pushed out to the left for Giroud and his form dipped there then he got injured and from there it was all downhill.
Point is Wenger will never turn on Giroud or buy a striker that "commands" a starting place on a weekly basis like Ozil/Alexis because he loves him too much.
Vardy will be backup to Giroud at CF halfway through the season, guaranteed.

Hate the PL proven argument. Costa wasn't prem proven, nor Suarez when the joined their respective clubs, quality is quality.
Torres was PL proven before Chelsea... went well
Higuain is better, Aubamayang brings very similar qualities to Vardy but has much more, Benzema overrated but miles better too. Those are some names for you. 2 of them very realistic

It would make more sense for Arsenal to go after Sturridge than Vardy.
Vardy won't take a step down.
